I thought they were all about fiscal responsibility. And now they're out in the streets protesting in favor of the students trying to antagonize the students of Mexican heritage?

Hmmmmm....

Americans in favor of the American flag in America. Probably a sign of racism.

I prefer my patriots to be earnest and sincere rather than vitriolic hatemongers.

But that's just me.

I prefer the freedom to express my heritage regardless of the date. I would not be upset if illegal Mexican immigrants wore the Mexican flag on July 4.

I don't believe that for a millisecond.

You lack any sort of intellectual honesty. You assume the worst of anyone who isn't in step with your beliefs, but if someone else does the same you accuse them of being racist or whatever.

You're kidding right? It's the American' day for Independence, but it doesn't mean we just hate other people and countries. If they want to wear a Mexican shirt, it's fine, just as long as they don't interfere with my celebration of the nation I (and they) live in.

I'm okay with Mexicans celebrating Cinco de Mayo, but I have a problem with some of the events that have recently transpired. The worst part of it for me is we have so many Americans assuming any sort of national pride is actually a form of racism.

For a country so often accused of having too much pride and being arrogant, we certainly have a lot of people who seem willing to bend over for other nations and cultures rather than display any sort of national pride. (And before you flip out, this isn't calling you out, it's just a general statement.)

You're probably my favorite liberal...

Every time the TPers go in a direction on something more akin to social policy and I point it out, I get berated on here that no, they are just very worried about all this social spending. It is denied that they are largely religious or social conservatives.

Obviously not all are. I am just saying its a mistake not to interpet much of what they do as white anger or fear over the changing face of the country.

there you go again, LG, always assuming that people who disagree with you are racists.

If you want to argue that the TPers are American Exceptionalists, I would agree with you. Because that is what is motivating them to protest this Mexican flag incident. I doubt they would deny being American Exceptionalists, either. That has nothing to do with race, but rather nationality.

No, just the TPers (and not even all of them).

I'm still waiting for you to prove their racism. You can't even make the case the TPers are bigoted, let alone racist.

Agreed. I'm definitely not ethnically American, and when people on here have subtly implied that I may be a White Supremacist, I've found it incredibly amusing. With that being said, I'm absolutely a nationalist.
