With the trade deadline looming, there is a good possibility that JP Arencibia will be starting for the Blue Jays by next week.

Current Jay catcher John Buck is a free agent after the season and Toronto will not pay Buck free market prices when they have Arencibia who is younger and cheaper and just as good.

Buck's numbers are likely not good enough to qualify the Jays for a compensatory draft pick so they will likely take almost any offer as they are 12 games behind NYY.

So look for JP's debut either against the Indians or at Yankee Stadium early next week.

JP has 29 homeruns to lead AAA and all of professional baseball.

And, is my 7 year old son's favorite all-time Vol.

Buck is currently a type B according to the newest Elias rankings. So, they could still get a pick for him.

However, I'd say it's 65-35 Buck is traded and J.P. is in Toronto this weekend. About half of the Jays front office was in Vegas for their past homestand to watch him.

And current Jay Jose Bautsita just passed JPA last night with his 29th and 30th HRs. It's a battle between the Birds for the HR crown.
