Per wes rucker

Golden is 60-of-64 from the free-throw line in UT's past 11 games. That's nearly 94 percent.

Golden is 52-of-55 in the past nine games. That's nearly 95 percent.

In the past five games, he's...
- 2-of-2
- 4-of-4
- 8-of-8
- 9-of-9
- 8-of-8

That is a dream PG FT LINE right there.

I think he lead the SEC in FT % which is pretty amazing considering Jenkins is such a good FT shooter.

Sounds like a streak I'd like to continue.

This has been missing from the PG position for quite a while. We've found guys that can handle the ball, drive well and either dish or put it up but if you don't combine that with good free throw shooting, it can be a moot point. Maze, Goins, Smith, etc couldn't be counted on at the stripe. Or at least I didn't have confidence when they toed the line that it would go down. When the game is on the line, you need to be able to rely on your pg at the stripe.

Maze was a pretty good FT shooter. Goins and Smith were not in Golden's league.

Wow I knew he had a streak going, but I had no idea that it was that many shots.

Maze was good. He was around 75 percent but I still just hated it when he went to the line. Just didn't trust that it would go down. Perhaps I'm being too harsh on him. He was pretty goot, overall.

He was good for that team...

But trae is one of the best pg in the country at the line.

Maze shot 83% his senior year, Goins shot 77%, and Watson shot 88% his senior year. Golden is shooting 85% on the season. Golden is on a roll but let's not bad mouth these good free throw shooters.

Edited Golden from 83 to 85%.

All seniors, golden doing it as a sophomore. Also is over 90% in SEC play, I wonder if any of those others could say the same?

Mad props to golden!

I knew Maze had a good %. Watson wasn't mentioned. It was Ramar Smith.

The one I remember Goins missing was at the loss to UNC-Charlotte last year. He missed the front end of a one and one and they went down and got a bucket for the 1 point win.

I was simply pointing out the recent history of UT PGs that shot well from the stripe. I left Ramar off that list for obvious reasons. As for Goins missing that FT, even good FT shooters will miss one in the clutch eventually.

Let's just hope Trae doesn't anytime soon. GBO!

I think another year of Cuonzo's coaching will turn him into a monster. Not saying that he isn't doing really well right now.

i agree.

i dont think you'll see much of a difference numbers wise, except for the turnovers.

that alone though will make him a much more effective PG.

I'm praying Trae gets to move to the shooting guard position - isn't that where he belongs?

Personally I think he's a good PG, especially considering he's a first year starter. His numbers would put him as the 3rd best PG in the sec this year, and that being from a sophomore.

As i said, if he cuts down turnovers hell be one of the better PG in the league, if not the best. Everything is there, except the turnovers are just too high.
