If this team is going to be successful, and you're going to be an ALL-SEC point guard, the way you played tonight should be the blueprint you follow the rest of the season.

20min 8pts 8ast 5rbd 0to 3-6fg 2-2ft

Translate that to 30 minutes...
12pts 12ast 7rbd 0to 4-8fg 3-3ft

Obviously that 30 minute translation shouldn't be an expectation...but from what trae showed tonight I think he can be a 30min 10pt 7ast 5rbd 2to 50%fg 90%ft type of guy, and those are big time numbers for a PG.

I've never had any doubts about Trae being our point guard. Especially now with a full off season under his belt. He doesn't have to go out and light it up. I'd love to see his assist per game be just as much if not more than his ppg.

I think one of the best things that could've happened to Trae was being coached under Martin and staff. Here's to hoping you get a 2nd round draft selection after next seasons (I'm pretty much wasted, excuse my enthusiasm after the first showing of this year's team). Lead our team, Trae.

Really difficult for a perimeter-shooting guard to shoot 50%. I'd expect more like 44-46%, and I'd still be perfectly content with it.

I agree with everything else you said, though.

I was never real impressed with Golden's play last year. I'm sure this year will be much better.

Not if he's dishing out 7 assists a game, our scoring will be very balanced. This isn't a team that's gonna average 80, probably closer to 70, 10 points in plenty for trae if he's dropping dimes.

Without Maymon right now, we need Trae to score because he's our best overall perimeter scorer and maybe most complete scorer.

Who has proven to score consistently outside of Stokes, Maymon, and Golden. McRae sometimes, but very streaky. Need Golden around 14 ppg.

But Golden's not a true PG. Would be useless for him to average that many assists.

Not a true PG.

Needs to be moved to SG because we have better options for PG. Like McBee.

I see balanced scoring..

Jarnell 15
Jordan 10
Skylar 8
Kenny 5
Dmontre 6
Josh 5
Q 6
Moore 5

That alone equals 60 points, add in Trae's 10 points and that puts you at 70 points, which is more than we averaged last year.

I think Trae needs to pick up some scoring slack while Maymon is on the shelf. Don't let the game last night fool you. We were able to do essentially whatever we wanted, which allowed for balance and ideal scenarios statistically. Better competition will curb those numbers and the younger, inexperienced guys will likely come back to Earth and our experienced vets will need to step up and shoulder the scoring load, especially with Maymon out.

What numbers that I posted above your post seem unrealistic to you, or do you agree with most?

None of it seems astronomically out of sorts or outside the realm of possibility. However, the new guys will have a serious adjustment period when we start playing the better teams on our roster. Fatigue will possibly be an issue for some as well as the season wears on. I think you could possibly shave a point off of Skylar, Josh, Armani, and Q. They may put up double what you predict too. Its just too early to tell, and 1 game against a talent-starved Victory team isn't going to lend much credence towards solidifying any relable predictions.

It is fun to speculate and your numbers aren't so crazy that I would dismiss them as uninformed fanaticism. I just think it's more likely that we see the cream rise to the top in crunch time and CCM may ask Trae to more in the scoring department if Maymon is out for a long stretch.

All I want from Trae is to be consistent and play like he knows he can. Doesn't have to go out and prove people wrong by getting 15 assist a night. Balanced numbers across the board and prove he can keep up with guards. All of that will give us a chance to win. We have Stokes and Maymon (when healthy) to feed the ball down to. That will relieve some pressure off of him. McRae and Richardson have to be the ones to step up and contribute too.

Completely agree. I see Trae averaging about the same ppg as last year. He will do plenty of distributing but even 5-6apg is considered really good. I see him around that mark all year. Cuonzo will still want Trae to find the balance between distributing and scoring. He's too good of an offensive weapon not to use. He shouldn't be hawking for his shot like last year but he will definitely be part of the offensive scheme. After Puerto Rico we should have a good idea of what we will look like. I see Kennessaw as one of the lowest D1 teams in the nation so that won't help anyone's seasons projections.
