Is anyone else on here old enough to remember games at Stokely Athletic Center? I was there when Tony White dropped 51 on Auburn back in '87. Golden has the same type of swagger about him.

I was pleasantly surprised by the showing from the team last night.

Clearly one of the best to ever play at UT. But he didn't play a lick of defense and was not a distributor in the least.

I remember the Wizard playing at Stokely. That was a special place with lots of character. Do you remember seeing Dale Ellis, Charles Barkley, and Ralph Sampson there? Cigarette smoke was so thick at times, you almost couldn't see the scoreboard above the court! Not a bad seat in the house.

I'm old enough to remember Bobby Croft, Rodney Woods, Mike Edwards and Lynn Kosmalski. So, yeah, I have some recollection of a guy named Tony White.

I am glad about the beginning to the season and the dedication to half-court offense and defensive discipline that was really lacking last season.

That being said, Trae Golden's performance was not against an SEC opponent, so let's not get too giddy yet.

Long term, I just hope that coach Martin can upgrade his recruiting. That is how you will know whether we are going to be any good or not in the long term.

I remember all of those guys playing there. We had tickets on the baseline on the floor and under the overhang behind the baseline. I was on the floor for the '84 UK game. I'll never forget walking up to Sam Bowie after the game and looking up. What a tree.

UT won that game and I remember the announcer saying that I-75 was closed at Jellico Mtn.

Cool. I meant Bowie, not Sampson. Mind isn't what it used to be.

I had already thought the same thing. I know it wasn't against SEC competition, but he has the it factor; trust me.
