Tennessee senior associate athletic trainer Chad Newman has reported that rising junior basketball player Trae Golden underwent arthroscopic surgery to address a meniscus injury in his left knee Tuesday at UT Medical Center.
Recent swelling prompted Tuesday's surgery. Newman said the procedure went well, and an initial estimate for Golden's return to activity is set at 4-5 weeks.
A point guard from Powder Springs, Ga., Golden was Tennessee's overall scoring and assists leader during the 2011-12 campaign, averaging 13.6 points and 4.5 assists per game. He also played a team-high 32.0 minutes per game while shooting .439 from the field, .388 from 3-point range and .828 from the free-throw line. Golden started 33 of UT's 34 games.
Im guessing the knee injury he suffered late in the year, and that kept him out of workouts, just wasn't healing properly. Here's to a full and speedy recovery.

Man Im glad thats all it was. On April 24th I had meniscus repair and acl reconstruction. The meniscus within 2 months you are back to 100%. Acl would be a long ordeal. I personally am irritated obly 3 weeks in and cant play sports for 6 months which would be late October.
Been there, done that on the ACL as well. Meniscus was probably messed up in the season and got worse instead of better in the off season work-outs. Clean it up and be as good as new by the first of July.
Kinda wish they did this a month ago if it was a lingering injury. He will be 100% by the first of the year, but might not play in the RTL or limited in Europe. Oh well, the season is all that counts.
