Trailer park becomes 'paradise' for sex offenders - CNN.com

The Palace Mobile Home Park is a place that welcomes sex offenders. Ninety-five of these 200 residents are convicted sex offenders, including some pedophiles.
The adults-only, nondescript, low-income trailer park near St. Petersburg, Florida has gained a reputation among sex offenders on probation as a good place to live and stay out of trouble.
"Out there ... it's a jungle," said Michael, who did not want his last name used for this report. "In here, it's our own little piece of paradise. We're safe here."
Michael was released from prison in June. He's been a familiar face to law enforcement in Florida and Mississippi for the past 20 years, serving prison time for grand theft, drug possession and sexual battery on a child.
"I pray a lot that my victim has been given the opportunity to grow beyond the horrendous problem that I caused for them," he said.
In many ways, the Palace provides him a second chance at life. New laws across the country have limited where sex offenders and predators can live, banning them from places where children might congregate. This trailer park is far enough away from schools, churches, playgrounds and bus stops, allowing Michael to call it home without running afoul of the law.

"As a sex offender -- when you come out, you're told you can't do this; you can't be around children; you can't go to parks; you can't go to the beach; you can't go to the library," he said.
Nearly 600 sex offenders have lived here in the past couple of years, according to manager Nancy Morais, who said she was sexually assaulted by a family member as a little girl.
Not only does she allow the sex offenders to live here, she also offers therapy to help them become part of society again. "Put him on the right track, and we have a better chance of seeing society be a little bit safer with this person," she said. "Can I guarantee they're all gonna be good? Of course not."

As long as they are away from the kids.

It would make calling in an air strike very convenient.

I say take all of them and move them to San Fransicko and let them stay out there with those folks. They would all blend in and it would be just a happy little world out there. Just makes me want to :pukeb:

The odd thing is that based on laws many people here are technically qualified to be called "sex offenders". If a guy had sex with a girl who is by law considered under age, you would be qualified as one under many states' laws. A good example is the whole Genarlow Wilson case here in GA.

Depending on the type of sex offender we're talking about here (say child rapist...perhaps), it isn't fair to homosexuals to place sex offenders in their same class. We're talking about a whole different ball game of inpropriety here...regardless of your views of homosexuality.

In the interest of full disclosure, I don't get up in arms about homosexual behavior. But even if I did, I think that I could separate sex offenders from homosexuals....big difference in my opinion.

My place is worth nothing now," the resident said, speaking in a whisper.

I interned at the major MH manufacturer, and I can tell you for fact, most of these mobile homes in the lower income trailer parks are worth little, maybe $2,000-$5,000. Without the land attached, the home is practically worthless anyways, unless its in an area like Washington State, New York, or Pennsylvania, where low income housing is harder to find, unlike in the south.

getting caught for streaking across a parking lot can get you labeled as a sex offender as well. It nearly happened to a former coworker of mine.

I can hear CSpin for a change. A Girl i went to school with is on the List, for being 20 and getting it on with a 15 year old. Well, she is a hog to the point where only a 15 year old with a dry noodle would be up for it, really.

But not supporting violent rapists, or pedophiles, both should be taken out in the corn and dispatched. But i had a Squad Leader when i was a buck private who nailed a 16 year old after a night at the club, which she had gained access to via a fake ID. Some 'Sex Offenders' aren't bad people, i guess. Victims of circumstance, often.

Not to sound sexist, but the woman generally gets the benefit of the doubt. Look at this Duke crap.

Let's say CSpin is 390 lbs and pockmarked. Due to his charming personality, he chats up a Jessica Alba look alike at the bar, and does the deed. She wakes up more sober, and cries rape. Sad as it is, CSpin will probably now have to have his picture taken annually to be posted on the internet, on the list.
