A federal court just gave transgendered people the right to change the sex listed on their birth certificate. What the hell? I agree with Ohio who claimed:
It is a record of your sex at birth. It is a historical record. If you change your sex later in life (and I won't even go into whether this is even possible) that does not change your sex at birth. This judge felt that it was discriminatory to trans people if their birth sex was listed correctly on a document called a birth certificate.
Incidentally Tennessee is the last remaining state that doesn't allow folks to change their sex on a birth certificate:
This is crap and I hope they appeal this to the Supreme Court. This is why the appointment of solid judges cannot be overstated

According to court documents, Ohio officials said the policy was re-examined and the decision was made to prevent fraud and to maintain accurate historical records.

Lambda Legal, a legal defense group for LGBT rights, said in a press release Wednesday that Ohio was one of only two states in the country still denying transgender people the ability to change the sex on their birth certificates.
Tennessee is now the only remaining state with such a policy, the group said.
