So I drove down for the Mizzou basketball game on Friday and couldn't help but notice the obscene amount of trash along I-81 and I-40. Not your normal amount of interstate trash, but it was way more than I have seen anywhere. For miles.

I brought my girlfriend and her family and they just kept commenting on it. As someone that takes pride in the state, it really embarrassed me. Just curious what the reason for this is, and is there a plan in place to get that junk picked up? If I lived in the immediate area I'd be out there myself.

Should have stopped and had them help
IKR! Should've said "I agree, it looks like crap" stopped the car and said "Let's all get out and do our civic duty and clean this crap up, I got trash bags in the trunk".

It was a lonngggg stretch. It was really noticeable near tri cities and lasted all the way to Smokies exit. Looked like several garbage trucks recently stormed through with their hatches open.

"Clean up on Aisle 9..."

I mean, really? IDK about the Tri-State area in recent months, but I've been up and down most of the southeast and I have to say we have some of the cleanest and smoothest roads out there.

TN does have some of the best/smoothest roads around. Louisiana and South Dakota both own an alinement job on my truck.

I see what the problem is.

You guys are blind. I'm from east TN - drive out there it's disgusting. Reminds me of my time in WV.

Put on your orange and volunteer to get out there.

Totally would man, but I live on the west coast for 9 months, and northern VA for 3 months out of the year. Believe me, I'd get out there if it was feasible.

I wasn't trying to tear down east TN in anyway. It's my favorite region and always will be. And this stretch has always been clean and a somewhat scenic drive, which is why I was curious.

I thought this was going to be about Alabama fans visiting Tennessee.

TN roads are not as good as they were 10 years ago. Travel from Knoxville east on I-40 in the right lane then take I-81 north through White Pine you will see what I am talking about.

Could be Winter and stuff was caught by snow plows but now the snow is melted so this what is left? I mean that is what I tell my wife when she looks at our yard...

Also, you want bad roads, cross the mason dixon line in to PA.

I have not been to PA in 12 years or so. I can truthfully say statewide PA had the worse roads I have traveled.
