Travis Henry released by Broncos

Looks like the Titans did well to let him go. They saw he didn't have much more in the tank.

He better do SOMETHING. He has a "few" kiddies to support.

i don't think you can even use "few" as being sarcastic here since his kids could field a baseball team.
You're right, several would have been more appropriate.

BTW, your addition to your signature...

Wasn't Henry leading the NFL in rushing yardage when he got suspended? I'm sure someone out there will pick him up. He's not washed up just yet.

he didn't get suspended, he got hurt. pretty sure he successfully fought the suspension off.

I suspect the decision was more about personal issues than about football ability.

he's always had the ability. just not the head to go along with it.

he may continue to play, but i doubt with the effectiveness he once did.

the broncos got tired of him requesting too many tickets each game for his kids and baby-mammas :)

He actually agreed to take a pay cut back in February.

yea, but he had a 6 million dollar bonus coming if he was on the roster come fall 2008 I believe. So I'd say they measured his participation this offseason and risk involved with him getting suspended by the league for another infraction against ponying up his bonus and decided it was not worth it.

Negative. The $6 million was a signing bonus that was already paid. He renegotiated his deal in February 2008 to take an $11 million pay cut. The resulting deal (after the pay cut) was for $1 million per year plus $100K annually for workout bonuses.

ESPN - Broncos release Henry after one disappointing season - NFL

I fully expect to hear about yet ANOTHER failed drug test for Henry sometime over the next few months (that the Denver Broncos already know about), and that will have been the reason that the Broncos cut him loose.

Well then ESPN radio and Chris Mortensen reported incorrectly today.

From the ESPN article that I linked above:

"Henry signed a five-year, $22.5 million deal in 2007 and was considered to be the running back who would be the perfect fit for Shanahan's running offense. Included in the deal was a $6 million signing bonus. Henry restructured his contract after the season and took more than $11 million in pay reductions."

"The move put his contract in very simple terms: He was making $1 million a year in base and $100,000 annually in workout bonuses. Financially, the Broncos had him as a starting running back at backup money. But apparently, Henry's off-the-field issues outweighed the finances and he was released."

This whole situation is extremely obvious. Henry has once again tested positive for smoking marijuana.

I don't understand someone having an attitude problem when
1) they are being paid extremely well and
2) they are doing something most people would love to have had the opportunity to do for a fraction of the pay.
