If you are not watching the IRL race at Chicago, you are missing a good one. Side by side racing for lap after lap. Three wide regularly, and keep in mind - open wheels.

I've never watched more than 2 minutes of this type of racing. I'll admit, the finish was good.

By the way, what's the deal with the over take button? That's a new one to me.

I keep forgetting that the IRL in on Versus. When it was on ESPN/ABC I would go through the channels and watch it when I saw it on.

Well I thought the whole race was good. They ran tharat way the whole time, and at 215mph!

The overtake button is new to the IRL, but CART had it several years ago. It gives a 20 second power boost, and they have a limited number of them. I didn't catch how many.

I would imagine to help with passing - particularly on tight road courses. It also introduces another strategy element to the driver.

I am shaking my head over WHY the IRL didn't put this aero package back in at the start of this season. It was very apparent towards the end of last year they needed to do something because the oval racing had started slipping quite a bit. The excitement was way down. Then they wait nearly all year this year to put that package in place and lo and behold the two best oval races all year have just took place. This Chicago race was one of the best IRL oval races I've ever seen period.
