More detailed, close-up photos from the Daily News. Don't look at these if you're squeamish, but these are the photos that have made Nicole Gross a household name around the world. I'll never forget the look of shock and utter disbelief in her eyes.

Given the tone of the thread, I was honestly happy to see she only suffered a compound fracture. I figured it could have been much worse than a broken leg. I later noticed that her sister did suffer worse and had to undergo a partial amputation. That's terrible that they had to experience that.

I will never understand the targeting of innocents. My heart is just broken by this. God bless her, her family, and all of the victims.

She was very fortunate not to have been hurt worse. I'm glad she's going to be okay physically and I hope she can recover fully in every other way, too.

Good to bring this topic up. What a day - you, your husband and sister go to watch your mother run the Boston Marathon. They were probably excited and expected her to come up the street anytime and then boom - their lives are changed. Wishing God's blessings on them during this most difficult time.

I bet they could draw a crowd for a public hanging.
