To put this particular triple play into perspective, there have only been 735 total triple plays turned on record in MLB history. Only 3 such occurrences have been scored 1-6-6, according to Baseball Almanac. That equates to .4% of all triple plays were what we saw tonight. That’s more rare than an unassisted triple play, which has occurred on 15 occasions.

Yep! The base runners almost have to be involved making huge mistakes for the unassisted. When my daughter was playing Dizzy Dean at 7 we had an unassisted triple play by our center fielder.
There was a man on first and second. Batter hit a pop fly to shallow center. Center fielder came sprinting, caught the ball, fell and did a flip, got up step on second, and then tagged the runner from 1st in the chest.
The coach said way to go, you just made a triple play. I said an unassisted triple play. I'll never forget it.

My favorite unassisted triple playYep! The base runners almost have to be involved making huge mistakes for the unassisted.
Thanks for researching to verify. Wasn’t Helton the dude that pulled off the deke? I know LSU’s Skip Bertman pulled it off once in the CWS. Yes. I’m a victim of CRS myself.I guess I was wrong- or the media guide is.
On two prior triple plays.
2/22/1997 EKU 4-3
4/14/1967 Kentucky 6-3
Tennessee last hit into a triple play on 4/6/2008 against Florida 4-6-3
I hope whoever called for the bunt sees that in his sleep for the rest of his life.
Teaching kids to bunt is child abuse.I'm hearing Augie Garrido unleash a stream of profanities about getting the 'f&#@rging bunt down'. This isn't about a flargen#$%g game!! This is your bleepbleepbleep life!!!
Or like I told a summer team kid of mine during bunting practice when he said "I don't bunt". 'Ok, then you don't play.'
