Can these be the same WR's that couldnt catch a cold or block the wind last year? So does coaching matter?

I was sitting down really low on our sideline where you could really hear the pads popping. Robert Meachem running after the catch is flat out scary.

If he keeps playing like this, I don't see any way in the world that he stays. Size, speed and hands like that need to get paid.

You never know? He may return. Our Coaches are pretty good at keeping kids around. I wish the kid the best whatever he does. I just wish we could have gotten a few more years like this one out of him. He is one of only a few wide outs that can take over a game.

I think Ainge and Meachem will both stay. They'll both want another shot at a National Championship, and they know how unstoppable they will be as seniors.

Thing is, Meachem has witnessed both Jason Allen and Justin Harrell return and get injured.

If Meachem leaves early, we will lose all the WRs that have caught TDs so far this year. Actually, Swain and Meachem have caught all but two, which Smith caught.

Hopefully they can convince Meachem to stay. If Calvin Johnson stays, I have hope that Meach will stay too.

huh? if calvin jonshon goes...it would be to Meach's beneift to leave, as he would be one of the best WR's available in the draft....no calvin johnson to compete with, so he could theoretically move up the board which increases his chance of big $$$$$....

True, but that doesn't mean the Vols will never pass for another TD again. One of the main reasons they're catching so many TD's is because they're just about the only receivers getting any time.

The way Ainge is continuing to improve, he'll make just about any WR look good.

C. Johnson came back for this year... wasn't there talk that he'd be a high pick if he'd have entered the 2006 draft? That's what I'm talking about, if he came back this yera, I have hope that Meachem will come back next year.

I'm worried about Meach and Swain leaving early. Ainge wont, though. He'll have Heisman-colored eyes by the end of the season.

It's a 100% lock that Swain will leave after this year. No doubt - if you can find a book to take the bet lay the house on it.

First, Swain is a senior, so...

I think Meachem has definitely played his way into the upper group of WR prospects, but I don't think he'll leave. I think it's questionable whether or not he'd go in the 1st round.

He's been a guy that was a little unsure mentally and is just now starting to realize his potential; which I think can still grow. Another year would really shape him up. Besides, if he ended up being the 4th or 5th WR taken, he'd likely fall into the 2nd round or have happen what has happened to many, e.g. Jason Witten.

Of course, maybe I'm just hoping.

If Meachem sticks around for a senior year he definitely needs the education because he is not very bright. You go pro after this season if you are Meachem. He has already taken some hard hits this season, I was surprised he did not ruin his shoulder on the sideline play on Saturday. You are always one play away from your career being over, so, go ahead and get that signing bonus as soon as possible.

1. Ainge has to stay. He'll have to put in 2 consecutive good seasons.

2. Meachem doesn't have to stay. He'll have enough stck to move on, if he chooses.

3. Trooper - whatever he lacked as a RB coach is certainly more than made up for in his knowledge of developing receivers in a short time frame. I thought he was over-hyped last year. I think he found his niche here.
