I've seen elsewhere lots of rustled jimmies that one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airman was present at the SOTU and watched as Limbaugh received the Medal of Freedom instead of him.

There's a good reason for that: In a ceremony earlier, Trump honored his service by promoting him to Brigadier General, a rank no African American from his generation ever had the slightest hope of attaining.

So no not entirely true. The commander of the collective group referred to as the Tuskegee Airmen, Benjamin O Davis, achieved the rank of General (that’s four stars) prior to his retirement. (Edit: not fully correct either. He got three stars prior to retirement. Clinton awarded his fourth star in 1998 after retirement)

Benjamin O. Davis Jr. - Wikipedia.

His father Benjamin O Davis Sr was a General in the United States Army.

Giving Rush Limbaugh the Medal of Freedom was nothing more than a partisan entertainment move for the cameras. It was nothing more than one nasty hate spewing man giving another nasty hate spewing man a pat on the back.

What a retarded argument. Literally no one was talking about Obama. Pay f***ing attention!

You know how they roll, when they know he fckd up - the whataboutisms start flowing like cheap wine. No better way to prove your point than them comparing him to their opinion the lowest common denominator.

I don’t think he F’ed up anymore than anyone else did . Cougs whole point was the quality of the person that received it and that he shouldn’t have . You can’t argue that one person doesn’t deserve it without comparing others that have .. can you ? There’s nothing wrong with whataboutism , unless you don’t want the topic compared to anything else .

If you call out their bullsh!t they immediately retort with any myriad of logical falicies..but most often ad hominem..typical for uneducated folks who think they are educated because they are on reddit.

Whataboutisms are intellectually lazy, especially given that the comparison to shore up ones justification of acceptance now is using the actions of the person who you despise. It's an unintentional self defeating argument - instead of addressing the issue at hand, its instant deflection and redirection.

This shouldn't be too difficult to understand.

So comparing anyone or anything else to the topic or subject at hand is lazy and whataboutism ? We must stay on the specific target, only talking about it’s merits without the ability of comparison ? Are you sure this is what you want ?

Sounds to me like your beef is with logic, not the reddit hipsters. Try spending a little more time forming cogent arguments instead of name calling and you may have better outcomes.

If your only response is to excuse and draw similarities of the behavior at hand, with behavior of someone else that you don't approve of - you're defeating your own point.

In pointing out the hypocrisy of the person you're conversing with, you're inadvertently exposing your own. Again, whataboutisims are self defeating arguments.
