I want to just go ahead and put it out there so I know whether to read VolNation on Tuesday night. Let's decide ahead of time you guys mentality, are we playing to win by playing starters or get other guys pitching time and at bats. Because if Coach V starts his starters many will blast him for not getting so and so innings on the mound and so and so some swings. But if he starts the Tuesday guys from the last several midweek games some will be saying that kid can't hit, or field or throw strikes. So I'm guessing he is in trouble on here no matter what he chooses.
So let's go the Peanut Gallery. What would you do? Who would you pitch? Who would you put in your lineup for this Tuesday? GO!

I would start the same line up. If we get a lead then I would sub them in .
Pitching I would Start Mark Mc, first reliever would be Rackers then EP. I personally think all 3 could help us in the Post season. Just my thoughts. I have all the confidence in the world in this coaching staff. Tech will come in ready to battle for sure.

Whoever is selected in the lineup and pitching Tuesday night better play to win. Tennessee Tech would like nothing more to spoil and they played us tough the last time around. We cannot lose to them, especially after laying a dud against Lipscomb two weeks ago. It'll be interesting to see what type of mentality the guys have Tuesday night.

I'd like to see McLaughlin get first crack at pitching and then Rackers as reliever.

I say play the subs and let the chips fall where they may but Tony has already mentioned getting back on schedule so I think he plays the starters. Hopefully we get a lead and he can let a lot of guys get some playing time and at bats.

We need to get a starter ready for that Wednesday game in the SEC tournament.
We play Thu, Fri, Sat against S Carolina so our weekend pitchers will be on short rest coming off the Arkansas series. I don’t like the idea of throwing our weekend starters on short rest 2 weeks in a row.

I like McLaughlin to start with Mabrey to follow him and Pleasants to close. If we need one of our horses to get a few outs then so be it. Kirby, Walsh, & Hunley need to be fully rested if at all possible going into Friday night.

This is a well balanced team. Seeding for the NCAA and the Conference will come.
No Matter what the Seed this team is BALANCED and can make it happen if it is meant to be.
I trust the Coach to put us in the best position to win no matter what draw we get. So we need to relax and let this play out.
If the starters need rest or need a break then so be it , it is a coaches decision, so as a fan lets go with the flow.
Not the time to second guess.
I like the fact that you brought this up.
We have Arkansas coming up, do we have to throw the kitchen sink at it?
No we have to take it one game & Series at a time and ensure we stay focus on the real prize.
Lets not burn ourselves out.

Combination. Let the same starters play and get some hard working , team guys get work at the plate and on the bump.

Let me make this very clear for the drive-by fans. This post is in no way a question of the coaching staff. I have stated very clearly that I am a huge fan of Vitello and the staff. This was a what if you were the coach post for discussion and a somewhat vivid reminder that every game we have guys who trash the coaches and players if they do and trash the coaches and players if they don't. I hope some of the drive-by guys read it and understand that we are in the must win phase of the season. If you are not playing as a fielder, hitter, or pitcher to this point, you are probably not going to play unless up by a lot or down by a lot. i think he will play starters and Mark will start. The rest will be dictated by the direction of the game but we are in a must win situation from here on out for national seed. Every pitcher will have a short leash.

Play your starting lineup as you always do. The opponent doesn't matter. Stay in the groove. Having said that, when it comes to pitching, get the pitching lineup set and rested for the rest of the SEC schedule.

I would not start one of our weekend starters if I could avoid it. Might might make it an all bullpen game just to give some work to some who need it and deserve it. They can bounce back by Friday night. Otherwise I would start the starters unless someone needs rest or nursing injury. The starters need to stay sharp. I want to win this Tuesday game, but we need all hands on deck, healthy and rested, for the weekend.

I would start my regular position players. I would start McLaughlin for about 30-40 pitches max. Go to Rackers and maybe Pleasants. I would not throw Hunley since he is usually the Friday night and Sunday closer....unless it is needed (like the last TTU game). Need him fresh. Maybe use Mabrey and Housley also. If we go up big, then we get some other players at-bats and reps. But that’s the only time I would do it.

I don’t see some kind of drastic shift pitching wise. The guys that start on the weekend haven’t pitched in any midweek games this year.

I think Mac will probably start, as others have said. The question then becomes do the Sewells, Pleasents, Walsh’s that do see action on weekends see action on Tuesday? If the game is tight, probably so, if not then I think you see guys like Fitz etc... get work.

My opinion is that if CTV feels it going sideways he’s gonna do what he thinks he has to do to win the game.

If I were coach and I am confident in my guys, I’m playing my starters, midweek. At least to a certain point(winning or losing)
We are getting close to win or go home time and I want them to have the mentality that every game matters.
But that’s JMO and I fully trust this staff to do what is best.

Weekend starters never start a mid week game. Get with the program Al.
