I had heard that he may make the move over to DE but nothing was set in stone. Well its official now, he has moved over to his natural position and will play left DE for the 06 season. Right now he's 6'4 278 not the biggest DT in the game, but since this switch will allow him back to the outside, his goal is to drop back down to the 250-260 range to add quickness.

His SR leadership should be beneficial to the group of projected DE starters... Ayers, Mitchell, Reynolds, Fisher etc.

McBride reminds me of Billy Ratliff who played on the DL a few years ago, extremely quick getting in the opposition's backfield. So quick that he sometimes is called for defensive encroachment. Replays usually show that he doesn't jump until the ball is snapped. He will be a stud at end.

By the way, Ratliff's bad knees kept him from achieving greatness at UT. However he became immortal as a Vol in 98 on the Arkansas fumble by their QB Stoenoer that saved the game.
