I know I could look this up, but I prefer a discussion. How many turnovers did Evan Turner have against UC-Santa Barbara and Georgia Tech? The announcers I heard for the Ohio State/Georgia Tech game bashed the first half of the first half as sloppy, and it was. Ohio State looked very lethargic and missed some easy shots. The fact that Georgia Tech stayed close with them ought to make us feel pretty good about tonight -- because Georgia Tech looked terrible.

As long as Turner does not go off for 50 then they should be in good shape. control the boards and keep Wayne out of foul trouble and they should control the game for the most part.

Turner's biggest weakness is his turnovers. He's not the greatest ball handler, and while he often makes really good passes, he sometimes tries to force some, as well.

Hard to match up with a 6'9 or whatever ball handler, though...

6'7". He has a assist/turnover ratio of 1.38 this year, which is his best of his 3 years.
Anyone think Bruce will let Melvin give a shot at guarding Turner, especialy as he brings the ball up court? Huge mismatch on size, but Melvin makes good ball handlers look a little nervous.

Tuner almost had a quadruple double against Ga Tech he was in double digits for points then had 9 boards 9 assits and 9 turnovers

This guy is no joke. I am very interested to see how pearl has planned for him.

I wouldn't be shocked to see him limited and the other OSU guys step up and take charge of the game.

I was actually thinking the same thing, just while he's bringing the ball up though. I believe maze could give him fits bringing the ball up.

Turner had 4 TO's in the first round and 9 against Georgia Tech. Through the Big Ten and NCAA tourney (5 games), he's averaging 6.2 turnovers/game.

This is a big game for both teams and I wouldn't expect Turner or anyone else to be sloppy, as teams always play there best agaisnt us.

He's been trying to force risky passes the last few weeks and they've been getting picked off easily - its infuriating.

Turner often shows the ball to the defender without protecting it. The ball gets tipped away and someone on the defense picks it up. That is how most of his turnovers happen. But so much good happens with Turner - you can't bench him for what would certainly send your average player to the pine.

I don't think you change your spots too much during tournament play. Strengths and weaknesses get magnified. I don't see Turner turning it over a bunch less against a very good, long, athletic team like UT. I am predicting 5+ TO's for him in this game.

I predict UT's defense is more than Turner and the Buckeyes can handle. All OSU has to do is go cold, and we will run away with it.

The only way you run away with it is foul trouble for Ohio State in which a starter or two goes to the bench for extended minutes. You could beat them if they go cold but not likely to run away from them. No doubt it should be a great game.

Check this out. This is amazing.

2009-2010 Stats (Turnovers)

Deibler - 38 TO's in 36 games
Lighty - 83 TO's in 36 games
Turner - 130 TO's in 30 Games
Lauderdale - 31 TO's in 35 games

Compare to:

J.P. Prince - 82 TOs in 35 games
Wayne Chism - 57 TOs in 35
Scotty Hopson- 73 in 35
Bobby Maze - 49 in 35 games.

We're not much better as far as taking care of the ball. Turner is obviously their weak point, and if we put some pressure on him, Maze/Hopson/Prince may can get some turnovers. He seems to have a high turnover rate in the games they lose (Gave up 10 in the lost to UNC). We just have to make sure we take care of the ball. Maze is a good point guard.

We had 464 Turnovers on the year. They had 412. So don't put too much stock in this statistic. We just gotta play our game, and we'll get what we get.
