Just thought I would start this thread to allow fans to talk about what went right at Alabama. I thought the big development today was the continued emergence of our post game. Someone mentioned that Tamari would rather play against size. She has had good results IMO and will get a chance to play on the big stage against a quality big on Thursday. How well she does in this matchup may well decide the game.

What changed is she decided to Coach the team, with that time out 1 minute into the third quarter. Had she done against Georgia with the same message that they got today we would have been undefeated in the SEC

I don't think it is going to be that clear cut. I really don;'t expect us to be Uconn (it pains me to say that) and there will likely be some more infuriating games/losses. This team, like many others is a a work in progress. I don't expect us to win the conference but I do think by NCAA tournament they will be a tough out. I see them making Sweet 16 and maybe beyond.

Someone was saying that she was only averaging 4 shots per game and tonight she got 12. That hopefully will continue she needs double digit attempts because she is likely to make at least half of the shots she attempts. Key is so far from her potential has been hard for me to understand. She should be a dominating player in the paint and a double double every time we play.

Yep but she is physically weak and gets pushed around like a 100 pound lady which she aint far from!

CKJ is better than Holly... but not sure by how much. Are offense has more movement and defense about the same. She is calmer than Holly and seems a lot more cerebral. My big concern are players making dumb mistakes over and over. She does not pull them or coach them up after they continue making ridiculous turnovers or lack toughness/desire on defense. The level you demand is the level you are going to get. Her biggest improvement forward is to demand more toughness and accountability from players.

The turnovers drive me CRAZY. However, i will say we don’t see Rae of Jordan charging in getting multiple offensive fouls a game. She often pulls them over to the side and coaches them up in game situations (like a free throw being shot). Yesterday Jordan didn’t run a play early in the game and Kellie sat her on the bench and Coach Sullivan was talking to Jordan. Her look was annoyed but Sullivan didn’t lay off if her.

Haha. I think she is more cerebral as well but her staying calm over these last couple of games she has went off and i think she has come close to a technical more than once.

Bottom line is that the top players came to play yesterday, and they are a top 10 team when you get that kind of production from Key, Davis, Horston and Burrell. Combining efficient shooting from inside and out with their usual defense and rebounding will make them very, very difficult to beat.

I know Alabama is unranked, but this is IMO easily their best win to date given how well Alabama has been playing, Tennessee coming off that dumpster fire game at UGA, and just how they did a total reversal and demolished them over the last 30 minutes. Barring any weird slipups in conference play, they should definitely be a top 4 SEC team and have a shot at #2.

We all thought they turned the corner against Ark but we saw that was not the case. Hopefully they are turning the corner but I think its going to be a slow process. How to keep the star players motivated every game on this team is a psych challenge for any coach.

For me the corner is always February. If we still play up and down after that we missed our turn. If you aren’t lined out and playing consistent ball by then your post season chances go way down.

Ok CKJ is better than Holly and most would agree with that. But i would ask you one thing do you think Key and KK development have been better under John or Dean ?

John.

I thought Dean was a terrible posts coach. Kasi is just now breaking the habit of putting the ball down in the paint.

Mercedes Russel was one of the best big women we ever brought to Knoxville and she hardly improved at all under Lockwood. After a season in the WNBA she was a different player. Our player development across the board was terrible during the Holly years.

Key has put together two solid games back to back so if she continues to go this route id say this coaching staff... also it seems like she is more likely to be held accountable for her actions with this staff...

I feel like she won’t put herself in a position to be dismissed by the school because there is an expectation on the way they do everything from sitting on the bus to how they sit on the bench
