At the end of the game, Coach Barnes stated UT had 14 turnover of which Ole Miss scored 19 points. More often that can be the difference in the game score. The Lady Vols need to take note of this and strive to reduce their turnover totals.

That one guy for OM had 6 steals last night. His anticipation is like a super power.

We don’t jump passing lanes hardly at all, which is part of the reason our defense in the half court is so good. We also send 4 to the glass instead of leaking players out which is why we are a dominating rebound team.
Additionally, while we create a lot of TOs, we create them in the middle of the floor and in the frontcourt. Few are created in the backcourt because as you said, we aren't gambling on jumping passes that create easy run-outs.

We also create a lot of faux-TOs by defending deep into the shot clock and forcing a bad shot that leads to a rebound, or shot clock violation.

Being a disciplined defensive team by not gambling and being a great rebounding team comes with some cost, and in our case, it costs us chances at fastbreak points. I wish people would stop listening to Basilio, who claims we just simply "won't take the opportunity", like it's a conscious effort by our staff to make it hard for us to score points by willfully declining fastbreak baskets. The way we play defense just doesn't allow for many opportunities. If people like Basilio want to take exception with that philosophy, then that's an argument to be had, but generating more fastbreak points will also come at a cost (defense and rebounding).

If they're over playing passing lanes, that presents opportunity for guys like Phillips and Mashack to attack the rim. Hopefully we can take advantage of that. Know it makes Barnes a little queasy, but I hope we see a little more mix of man and zone today just to keep Missouri a little uncomfortable and us out of foul trouble.

Limiting TO's and making FT's are the keys to staying in tournaments. Vols could overcome the free 19 pts with OM but probably cannot going forward. Hopefully Barnes can get their attention on this.

Today is maybe not the day for a zone defense playing against the best 3-pt shooting team in the conference. Mizzou will likely shoot us right out of it pretty quickly. It worked in our opening game, but OM is one of the worst shooting teams in the SEC, despite their hot start, yesterday.

Bingo. And our zone is not very good, it’s quite elementary to solve our zone and get a good look from 3 or 15’.
