I would not classify Bill Clark as settling. There’s an argument he’s a top 15 coach in the country
Would he be on the top of your list at a program that has said money won't be an issue in the coaching search? You ain't giving Bill Clark 4-5 million
If Arkansas can’t get Kiffin, get Bill Clark.
Also how is this possible
Arkansas isn’t getting anyone worth a damn at $4M-$5M anyways. They actually tried that with Beilema and got them nowhere. They need to focus less on name and get a good coach.
Arkansas can throw big money at whoever they want but they're not comingArkansas has said this hire will not be hindered by ability to spend money aka they are willing to shell out money if the name warrants it. Bill Clark doesn't warrant that much money hence Arkansas would be settling with someone like Bill Clark.
What are you wanting to wager? Kiffin can't manage a big time program and no big time program is going to hire him as head coach again.
Kiffin went 28-15 at USC with major scholly reductions and bowl bans...... Looking at what happened with Sark and Helton minus the two Darnold years, Kiffin's firing at USC was very premature from a idiotic administration that is a revolving door. Somehow they made the smart decision to let Helton return for next year.
And yet, Clay Helton is 40-21 as the head coach of USC with two conference/division championships and nobody would consider him a grand slam hire by any stretch. Steve Sarkisian was 12-6 as a head coach following Lane Kiffin and he was a raging alcoholic. Despite the notion that the scholarship bans gutted USC, he still had two five star quarterbacks on the roster his last two seasons and inherited Matt Barkley. Pete Carrol's last three seasons he had a combined record of 32-7 with his worst season being 9-4. Lane Kiffin inherited a wealth of talent and had five star talent across the board. He had zero excuses to not perform well.
