McNeese State beat Middle Tennessee 27-21

East Washington beat Idaho 20-3

And to think the WAC is bringing up more garbage to the FBS. The WAC teams remaining and the Sunbelt are bad enough...

Another sorry year for MTSU and they'll be looking for another coach.

The WAC's gone football wise after this year

Sounds good. So they'll all drop to FCS along with their additions that just came up?

I never agreed with them being allowed to bring up teams to keep the conference in tact because the remaining teams were pretty awful. I don't know much about East Washington other than they have red turf, right? Scoring 3 points against them is bad though.

Or does Idaho and whoever else get to be independent like WKU was?

All the teams besides New Mexico State and Idaho are moving to the Mountain West.

Really? I'm out of the loop if that's the case.

Currently the WAC is...

New Mexico State
Utah State
Louisiana Tech
San Jose State
Texas State
UTSA
Idaho

Everyone besides Idaho and New Mexico State is MWC bound?

No, they're going to various leagues. Some to the Sun Belt. Maybe C-USA too. I'd have to look it up, but I have more to do before I can get some sleep and get to Atlanta.

No worries, enjoy the game!

There is only two possible outcomes that will determine whether it's enjoyable or not. That would be the case for me anyways. I suppose some people can enjoy their time regardless but for me it would only enjoyable if Tennessee wins and would automatically suck if they lose.

My bad.
Texas State = Sun Belt
Utah State = Mountain West
Louisiana Tech = Conference USA

I am capable of seeing us lose live and still having a good trip, but I don't think this is one of those times. It's a big game against a talented opponent that can beat us, and it's a must win. The UF game will be just like it. Big September coming.

UTSA and LA Tech are going to the C-USA, Texas St is going to the Sun Belt, SJSU and Utah State are going to the MWC and Idaho and NMSU are still with the WAC.

EDIT: Someone else beat me to it.

Thanks.

That would really suck if you're Idaho and New Mexico State. Texas State and UTSA get brought up and find a new home while you're left out in the cold.

Is UTSA better than Texas State? They got the better conference but I recall Texas State being good when they had that one QB. His name was something like Barrick Nealy I believe?

UTSA is only in their second year as a football program. If I remember correctly, they play 5 non-FBS teams this year.

I'm not sure. I do know UTSA is just going into their 2nd year with their football program. I think they just have the bigger school perhaps.

Also where that assclown Cowherd went to school.

Idaho's state board approved letting the school seek independent status / adopt an independent scheduling system, so they're likely going that route for now.

New Mexico State hasn't said anything yet on the matter...so they might either go independent or have to drop back down to FCS.

Really -in some ways - the WAC's the first casualty of conference expansion (which everyone had expected the big 12 to be)...it's the death/end of FBS football in a conference that had played it for 50 years...though arguably one could also say the WAC's only been a shell of itself since the Mountain West teams broke off/left.

Eastern Washington won the FCS title a couple of seasons ago I think. Those teams often could compete or beat most of the WAC type teams. It says something when there are FCS teams still out there like Montana that turned down a WAC invitation.

There might also be a monetary issue relative towards a university's athletics program jumping up to / running a program at FBS level (vs FCS). (as opposed to just something about "where can we be competitive")
