Just saw on ESPN where Tyler Cook and Cannon Smith, both U of Miami QBs have left the team. Didn't say if either had another school in mind. Anybody know anything about them?

Cannon Smith is about 5'11" and was recruited by MTSU.

Taylor Cook was a 3* out of TX and is around 6'7"

Man, the U sure likes to drive their QBs off. At least they have a good young one in Jacory Harris.

You are correct on both points! Harris is going to be real good!!!

Tommy Tubberville will be the next coach at Miami! Shannon is not the most popular guy down there!

No he's not and he is on a bigtime hot seat right now.

You think it was the coach or the fact that Harris was and will be the starter for the foreseeable furture?

Do we take a look at one of these guys? Cannon Smith is from memphis but Taylor Cook is the better QB.

Miami loses two backup quarterbacks

It's true -- Miami backup quarterbacks Taylor Cook and Cannon Smith have both decided to transfer, putting the Hurricanes in an even more precarious situation at the position.

That leaves the Canes with freshman A.J. Highsmith and senior walk-on Matt Perrelli as the top backups to Jacory Harris. Highsmith has played well this summer and was rated the No. 24 quarterback in his recruiting class by ESPN.com. His father, Alonzo, was a running back at Miami from 1983-86 and in the NFL for several years, so obviously there is some heritage there, not to mention expectations. Perrelli has been Matt Bosher's holder since he was in high school and was preparing for the same role again.

Smith was not a bad player for Olivebranch HS. IIRC coach O was looking at him when he was at Ole Miss

Isn't Cannon's brother already on the team? ....if neither of them managed to beat out Jacory Harris, I don't see how they could help us.

Cannon is Fred Smith's son and from what I have heard over the years, not all that good.

Only because of who is father is. He is not a BCS QB.

Correct. Servicable, but will never be "big time". Plus he has a little baggage. He got popped with some drugs right out of high school.

I don't think we want more 2nd and 3rd string QB's... we have them already. The fellas we want are in the drivers seat.

Just read on espn.com about Miami loosing a back up qb named Cannon Smith. It said he was from Tennessee. Anyone know anything about him? Idk how to send a link from mobile. Sorry.

Had to reread that too but I think he meant no Shannon is not popular.

Yes that is correct, Sorry for the confusion...Yes I believe Tubberville is the coach awaiting Shannons fate...I am not sold on Shannons coaching abilities...Tubbs could make them a contender again if given the opportunity.

Classes at UM started today, so since they left yesterday they maintain a year of eligibility.
