Just the watched the replay. Missouri is better than they are given credit for. They are 19-6, 8-4 and they played out of their minds yesterday. 53.8% from 3 point range hitting 14-26. They are 22nd in the NCAA in FG pct and were 52.6% last evening. They are 38th in points scored. Rebounding is their soft spot. Once we caught them and pulled ahead, I thought we had them for sure. But they wouldn't go away and hit some unreal shots. Gholson hit some moon shots including the winner.

More than anything else, I hate we didn't win it after clawing our way back from 17 down and Tyreke Key playing so well. He had a career game and his and Vescovi's 3 pointers were a big factor in the comeback. 23 points had to help his confidence going forward.

It was the small lineup that keyed the comeback. Uncharacteristically, we scored a bunch of points and gave up a lot of points. It was the opposite of the defensive, low scoring games we played previously. It's not like they weren't hustling on defense. But the shots were falling for each team.

Mizzou couldn't miss 1st half, the best thing that happened at halftime was they had to switch sides and shoot at a new goal... Anyway, Vols fought their heart out in 2nd half; I'm so disapointed we didn't win and disgusted in how we lost it at the end, especially considering we have 5 Quad 1 games left and can play well and still lose those games.

In the last 2 games, the 3's were falling for the opposition. The Vandy 7-footer hits 3 in the 1st half (one falling backward trying to flop) after hitting only 6 in the previous 20 games. Missou was hitting from NBA range in the 1st half. This is the way the ball bounces sometimes. I think the team will be ready and hungry when Bama arrives in Ktown. UT by 10.

They actually shot 8-16 first half for 50% from three, and better the 2nd half (6-10) for 60%.

Great catch. I guess it was the volume/rate that they were bombarding us from 3 in 1st half; they only made 5 in 2nd half before the desperation heave to win it.

I’m a statistics nerd. For some reason, I remember everything sports-wise, and nothing that is really important. Yeah, they were bombing that 1st half. I remember thinking at halftime they couldn’t keep hitting that well.

Also Plavsic and Nkamhoua didn’t close out well enough on the 3 ball.
Plavsic being unable to close out is understandable, he's just not fast enough; ON has to do better because he is capable of guarding the 3 point line... I don't know if our expectations are too high for him, but it makes no sense that he can go off like he did at Texas, then fade to the background while we're down two starters and he's a senior.

I too watched the last five minutes. Our guys played incrediblely hard, refused to bedenigh and deserved to win. Since we are still ranked in the top ten, most voters recognize a fluke when they see it.

I have waited to post because of frustration with a lot of our fans... torching Santi.

As Mashack and other players have said, we would not even have had a chance to win if not for Santi. If you have ever been down double digits in a basketball game and expended the energy to come back and win then you know how tired Santi was with 4.2 seconds left shooting two. In the words of Forest Gump..."You have no legs Lt.Dan." if a mistake was made, it was Coach Barnes not using the last timeout to let Santi sit down replenish his fluids and catch his breath and get a few words of encouragement. Yet that would have given Missouri time to Scheme. I think they had already schemed quite well to get a review for a possible hook-and-hold on a clear common foul.

However, we made so many mistakes in the last five minutes. It's frustrating that two critical team members were unable to play.
ZZ'S fifth foul was critical. Up by six and a chance to run clock. ZZ knew it. He owned it. His third foul called block when clearly a charge was disgraceful. Awaka going 1/5 at the line was not helpful but that kid is special and with more reps...will be SEC MVP. Late foul on Awaka on a lose ball rebound was an attempt by referees to even the fouls called and a direct result of Missouri 's coach working referees. It worked! The early foul called on Awaka because he refused to let go of the held ball...why not a double foul.
Finally, the lane violation by Awaka is the final straw for me on Pat Adam's. Tobe was no earlier than the Missouri player. Another attempt at a make up. That call is like a delay of game in football. Ref's watching the click till it hits 0 then looking to see if the ball has been snapped. Similarly, player can't step in the lane until ball leaves shooters hand. Again if you are watching the shooter, truly watching how could you tell if he is early.

Not a Pat Adam's fan. Have a blown up poster of Adam's calling a technical foul on Jerone Mammon. I think it was Florida. We needed the win to make the tournament. Adam's made a bad call ....Jerome complained ....technical foul was called instantly. No warning. Adam's enlarged face shows so much hatred for a 20 year old kid who asked for an explanation.

Coach Perry Ellis ( I think) color commentary was excellent. He explained that very few coaches would have recognized what was happening on our bigs unable to guard their man. Earlier Coach had said Coach Barnes is one of best coaches in America.

Great game especially by Tyreke and Santi who carried the load. They didn"t land the plane but winning a basketball game in the SEC is hard.

I think the key mistake was ZZ's last foul. We were up (by 6?) at that point. That limited our offense for the last 2 minutes. It also required 2 miracle 3s from Mizzou for them to win: the final 25 foot off the dribble off balance heave, and the previous make which was a rainbow into the rafters because of perfect defense from us.

I'll say it again: Mizzou is one of the most dangerous teams in the country. They might get cold shooting or a bad match up and bounce early, but if you're looking for a dark horse Elite Eight team, I think they are a solid option.

That 5th foul on ZZ was killer. Plus not being able to get the 5th on Kobe Brown after he picked up his 4th with over 10 minutes left.

All good points. On top of that, I believe Santi is playing through a lot of pain.

ZZ has to be smarter, he needs to avoid those first half dumb fouls so come the second half he can play how he wants to and isn’t in foul trouble and threat of being fouled out. Not having him late in a game is a killer, and in that game where we wanted to go small and were without Phillips & JJJ he was such a huge piece of the puzzle, can’t be fouling 90’ away from the basket for your 5th foul.

Truth about Pat Adams. He is 10 times worse than TV Teddy Valentine. How in the world has some coach not cleaned his clock by now is beyond me! He even threw a radio announcer out of a game a couple of years ago! I would be OK if he never called another UT game.

One of those fouls on ZZ in the first half is one of the worse calls I have seen in a long time. Just pathetic.
