I think they need two trophies in NASCAR...The Chase trophy and the season trophy. Just seems like a lot of the time a driver performs better in the chase than in the regular season. Cause in my opinion it's more special to win like Kyle Busch did than to win how Jimmie Johnson won. 10 races doesn't sum up the whole season.

Just my opinion though :matrix: this is me ranting btw:happy:

That's all well and good... except that Kyle Busch wouldn't have won the championship with either points system.

I agree with the premise, though.

At the end of the seasons I always feel like everybody did horrible except one person...even the person who won the last race, it's sad lol.

how about they just make races actually worth winning?

F1 is going to a medal system next year and think it's really going to work out.

They need to just get rid of the chase and end the season around Labor Day. I am a Huge NASCAR fan but the season is just too long to keep the avg. fans attention. They would have 30 weekends from Daytona to Labor Day to have 26 races the All Star and 3 off weeks if nessecary. Just My opinion.

I think the two trophy idea is good, but the Chase does what it's meant to do. It sorta creates a playoff for racing. Do I like it, no, but I can live with it.

This has me curious, who would have been the champions had it not switched ? I'm sure Gordon would be at 6 or so by now.

I agree the racing season is way, way to long and the off season is too short. I enjoy the Chase because I like to figure out if say Edwards has a chance to get how many ever points during the last race and then hoping Jimmie screws up bad enough for it to happen (even though I knew it wouldn't lol). But it aggrevates me when a driver has an awesome "Pre-Chase" season and wins and makes tops 10 & 5s every race, and then has their bad races in a clump at the end of season.

IMO, the chase and the car of tommorrow has ruined NASCAR. The past 2 seasons have been almost unbearable to watch. I am tired every week being a repeat of the drivers which teams have the most money. I looked at this past seasons results...I would say 95% of the races were won by a Hendrick, Gibbs, or Rousch car. Just doesn't create much excitement for me. I went to 2 races this year and there is a sharp increase in amount of empty stands. The Charlotte race was crazy thin in areas. Before I get bashed, I know there is many factors in why the stands are empty, but crappy racing doesnt help. Just ask the IRL

one fine example of crappy racing Indy (I think it was Indy), they had to change tires every 15 laps...man I would've demanded my money back.

the racing in the IRL is infinitely better than anything NASCAR is putting on the track right now, with the exception of maybe the truck series.

that wasn't IndyCar racing or the IRL. that was NASCAR who had the problem with tires at Indianapolis.

Keep in mind that teams like Jimmie's have figured out that all you have to do is make the chase then the season begins. If the 48 team knew they had to do well the whole season to win the championship than they may have ran better earlier in the season. The pre-chase season has become the time to try strategies and test set-ups before the chase.

That is why I don't like the chase. I want every race to matter. If I am paying $200.00 for weekend tickets I don't want to watch drivers "points racing". If the season was shortened and they got rid of the chase then every race would matter more and we might see some better racing.
