Given how Cutcliffe was able to pick apart Cal's defense, how excited are the rest of you that Cut and Ainge have two weeks to watch film and gameplan for Bama?

Not worried about the offense. I would not complain if they spent a whole week on special teams practice.

i think the offense will be well prepared...and one thing here...i heard a former college coach on the radio a while back on how to handle an off week and he had a point i thougt was interesting...

he basically said, with two weeks to prepare for one opponent, the game prep can get monontnous for both the players and coaches, so one thing he did to break it up was by Wed of the first week introduce the game plan for the next opponent, work on that like normal--like you were playing on that Saturday. then the next week, early on begin to introduce game plan for the game after that (which would be USC for us)...introduce it, start to work on it and then on Wed or THursday of the 2nd week go back to the upcoming game and finish the prep for that...that way you have a bit of a jump on two teams and when you go in to practice for that next game, you're a little ahead of the game...

i don't want to put too much in to that, after all the guy was a former coach now hosting a radio talk show, but i did think it was interesting....and seeing as how Bama is a bit down, i wonder if there wasn't some value in doing something like this???

I am not too worried about our special teams. On the kickoff, #35 left his lane. I don't think he was in on kickoffs after that. On the punt, Colquitt outpunted the coverage...

At least this year we wont have to worry about the fullback fumbling the ball because there is no way in hell he gets a carry.

I must admit, I too am feeling pretty good about the Alabama game this year, but make no mistake about it, Guys, they WILL come to play. They will be ready, and our guys had better be too, which I think they will be. When it comes to the 3rd Saturday in October, throw all the records out the window. Anything can happen.

I've followed UT since the early 80's, when Gault and Reggie White were playing, and I can honestly say that no game gets me more fired up than the Bama game. Bama has gone into these games at times with half the team that Tenn. has and still played Tenn. close or came out with a 'W'. Bama has a knack for playing up to their opponent's ability, whether it's one of those directional schools or Florida or Tennessee. That being said, UT should win big vs. Bammer, but I wouldn't be shocked if it was close.

I believe that is Ellix Wilson. It seems like he has actually made a few pretty big special teams plays. He'll probably work his way back in next week. Ben Greene has made some big plays, too.

i believe fulmer said on his show sunday that by wed. they would be working on bama stuff.

while i feel good about beating bama, that game is generally a tight one, no matter who is the better team on paper. bama will be ready to play us. they'd love nothing more than to spoil our fun at this point. but i hope fulmer, chavis and cut keep our guys focused and modest.

Don't forget 1990. We were #3, bama was under .500. They beat us 9-6 in a no TD game.

Fortunately, the Johnny-ball formula is now out of the equation.

Bama will come to play. And we will too.

I sat through that :censored: game.
