How’d we get a kid out of Texas with an 88 rating to be a preferred walk on? That’s a borderline 4 star player. And how is a player even with an 86 composite only getting offers from FCS schools? That doesn’t make sense. Happy to have him all the same, just don’t know why this kid is not getting offers to bigger schools.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if he ends up a Vol, as he's good enough to earn some solid FBS offers. Crazy productive so far this year with 97 tackles, 17 TFL, 8 sacks, 11 QB hurries, and 2 fumbles caused in 7 games (Class 6A). Shot put PR over 62'.

62' in the shot is really good for a HS jr...

Is this kid a diamond in the rough situation like Jared Verse? Lower rating, virtually not recruited, but a late bloomer explosive athlete… physically he looks like a freak and plays big boy division in Texas with great stats.

What’s the catch with him?

According to one of his profiles he's Top 10 in the country in shotput. I suspect T&F is his primary focus and football is secondary. Which might be why major schools backed off.

But I'll take him. 4.7 40. 500lb squat. 375lb bench.
11.39 in the 100 meters is moving for someone 240lbs with that type of strength.

If he plays football he takes a football scholorship. The old Bear Bryant Rule.

Edit: to elaborate...he can't be on a track and field scholorship and be a walk-on for the football team. His scholorship automatically counts toward the 85 if he is on the the football roster.

I suspect a NIL deal may be involved here.

Interesting...I wonder what a shot-put thrower/Linebacker with no FBS offers can command. I honestly don't know. Is it enough to cover out-of-state tuition? Interesting to see how these NIL deals can be used to a teams advantage - outside of the bidding wars over 4 & 5 star prospects.

Could be stacked tuition. He could get an academic which can make outstate look almost like instate. Then it doesn’t take nearly as much NIL to cover the difference.

UT has pretty good scholarship amounts for out state academic scholarships.

Trey Wilson, Bell, Linebacker

Committing on October 23rd. We are the favorite to land him and looks like a preferred walk-on. 88 rating on 247. Looks like he committed here last year.

Delete or merge if there is another page.
If we're landing preferred walk-ons with 88 ratings on 247, I REALLY like the direction we're heading in recruiting.

Most definitely not for a oline guy if ur a Titans fan 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️How Vrable n Co dropped the ball on fat pandas character made me question Georgia as much as anyone in our scouting department
Sam Pittman vouched for him. It's been said that he went on and on about Wilson's character, with Titans people saying that Pittman absolutely loved him.
