I'm sorry if there is a thread on this... merge if necessary.. earlier espn reported OK and TX are flirting with the PAC 12 again... just wanted to know if you guys think the SEC will make a play for them and try to snag them from underneath the PAC 12...

NO NO and NO...although it would be nice to add those teams to our fine league. The SEC will not tolerate Texas punking the rest of the league in having its own network and essentially cutting out the other teams in the league financially. I strongly think in the end we add Texas A&M, Clemson, Florida State, and perhaps Georgia Tech or Va Tech. I would put A&M and Florida State in the west and Clemson and Georgia Tech or Va tech in the east. Case closed.

See "Around the NCAA" for multiple threads on conference expansion.

Was talking to a guy yesterday who is a trustee at Clemson, apparently Clemson has already voted to join the SEC, they are now waiting on an invite. They have also made a pact with FSU to where both of them join or neither. He also said that Virginia Tech has voted to stay with the ACC...He thought that the SEC moving to 16 teams would happen starting in 2013.

Look at a map. It's farther west than any other school in the east except Vandy. But if you look at the same map, you'd also see that auburn is farther east than Vandy.

it would be weird to call a florida school a western school but i see what youre saying

Pretty sure Florida and south Carolina refuse to let that happen.

I also don't see us just inviting/taking 3 ACC schools like that....i don't think they're trying to outmuscle/wrestle the ACC here

I could be wrong, but from my understanding 3 member schools can vote to block a school from joining. Florida, Carolina and Georgia would probably block FSU, Tech, and Clemson to keep their instate rivals out of SEC.
