Vols offered and he’s visited at the end of the month.
“My mom hadn’t been there yet and see wanted to see everything,” the 5-11, 190 pound Blaylock said. “I had seen it before but it’s always nice to be there.”
“It was my second time visiting. I could have chosen anywhere to visit this weekend, but I chose Rocky Top because it just felt different the first time I was here and I wanted to see if I had the same feeling the second time.”
So did Blaylock have the same feelings about the Vols that he had from his first trip to Knoxville. “Yea, it was everything and more. I’m loving it up there,” Blaylock said. “It was nice. Just great people to do around. It was a fun day.”
The day consisted of plenty of football as the Texas native spent plenty of time with running backs coach Jerry Mack learning more about the Vol offense. “It was a lot of football stuff,” Blaylock said. “Anybody can throw a party, but it was football and it was fun. It was a good day.
“Coach Mack is a great coach and a great guy. I could see myself playing for him, we just have to see where it goes.”
As for how he would fit in to Josh Heupel’s spread attack, Blaylock says nicely. “They are the number one offense in the country so they can use me in different ways and get me the ball in space,” Blaylock said. “I really like how they would use my speed.
Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida State, Miami, Penn State, Wisconsin, Oregon and Notre Dame joined Tennessee in the group of front-runners for the 5-foot-11, 191-pound Blaylock. He has received scholarship offers from more than 35 schools, including all 13 of his current favorites.
“I could have went anywhere (on July 29), but I chose to come to Rocky Top because it just felt different the first time I was here,” he told GoVols247's Patrick Brown two weeks ago. “I wanted to see if it was the same feeling the second time as I got older. ...
“To be honest, it just feels like home, really. It’s just like the people are nice people. That’s what I’m looking for — like, nice people and a nice program that I can use my skills to the best of my ability.”
After the visit, Blaylock expressed interest in returning to Tennessee for one of its home games this season. He said two weeks ago that the Vols' game Sept. 30 against South Carolina best fits his schedule for this fall.
