Charlie Strong needs at least two more recruiting classes to get Texas where he wants them. Problem is I don't know if he'll get that much time.

Didn't think in the state of TX he would need long to be competitive. Wow!! He can coach and recruit. Things down there must be super bad.

Pete Thamel: Charlie Strong turns down Tennessee offer, will stay at Louisville - More Sports - SI.com

Charlie Strong is staying at Louisville, according to a Louisville source. Strong received a contract offer from Tennessee on Wednesday, but declined it after pondering the decision for a few hours.

Louisville and Strong are finalizing a long-term extension that could be announced as early as Thursday. It's expected to be a significant commitment in both years and dollars and will reportedly put Strong in the top echelon of coaches in the ACC.

The Louisville extension ends Tennessee's courtship of Strong, who had one brief meeting on Sunday with Tennessee chancellor Jimmy Cheek in Louisville. Tennessee was the only school with which Strong had formal contact.

"It was Charlie's desire to end this constant speculation and re-commit long-term to Louisville," said a source.

Louisville, which has 31 players on its roster from the state of Florida, plays Florida in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2. Louisville went 10-2 this season and won a share of the Big East title with a victory over Rutgers last week to clinch a BCS berth.

Strong's future at Louisville appears bright, as he returns 19 starters next year. That includes star quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who will be considered a Heisman Trophy candidate next season. Strong is also optimistic about the school's move to the ACC, which is expected to begin in 2014.

Strong isn't a people person and will not last at any major school . Texas boosters already want him gone

That's because TX fans are the most arrogant in the country and think they should be good strictly because they're the University of TX.

Red McCombs is also a racist, ass who thinks "that boy could maybe be a decent coordinator at another school."

If the Saban rumors are true and Strong has another unimpressive season, I can see them making another huge, huge offer to Saban and one last push to pry him from Bama.

What would you prefer?
Saban @ Bama or Saban @ Texas?

Is that even a question? Saban @ Texas all day. If they give him a second chance to take the job, possibly with even more money attached, I'm not sure he turns it down. Unless he wins a NC at Bama this year, and even then he might feel like he's done all he can there.

Regardless, if he goes to Texas and wins a national championship there, it would be hard to not say he's the greatest college football coach in history.

Think ol' Dalton Santos who turned down Tennessee to stay at Texas is happy with his decision either? He recently was sidelined with another ankle surgery that will probably kill his senior season unless he red shirts.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.............
