friend just said he heard on radio that Tyler has decided to come to UT and honor is LOI anyone got any info on that or was my buddy just blowin smoke?

KNS had an article this morning that quoted Tyler Smith as saying that he was leaning towards honoring his LOI and coming to Tennessee. Hopefully that will be the case. Not only his he a very good player, but he's also good friends with several big-time prospects in the Memphis area for next years class. It would be GREAT to be able to hang on to him.

My roomate's friend is one of Tyler's good friends. He told him last night that he was planning on coming, but that the didn't really "trust" Pearl. He also said that Louisville was the main reaon for the hesitation...he has been getting flooded with offers and phone calls from Pitino.. :twocents:

So it looks like he is coming now. This is great news. We can be very good next year, just matters if Pearl is real good at devloping his players or not.

Smith said that he was leaning towards honoring his LOI, but he wasn&#39;t leaning that much...He said that Tennessee has 55-45% chance of getting him.

Tyler&#39;s biggest problem is his DAD&#33; Doesn&#39;t trust Pearl that is CRAP more like his dad didn&#39;t get what he wanted.

His Dad? I agree. From everthing I have heard Tyler wants to come to UT it&#39;s his dad that is making a Fuss

I&#39;m beginning to think Mr. Smith is related to Locke and Leak.

It would be interesting in knowing why he does not "Trust" Coach Pearl. Maybe Pitino is filling his head full of crap. Memo to Pitino.... Go back and coach in the NBA so everyone will remember that you are much overrated as a coach.

Tyler Smith nor his Dad have no reason to question Pearl. Like we have said before the only "knock" on Pearl was the incident at Illinois and I firmly believe he was right in what he did.

Bottom line is this Smith kid seems to be pretty cocky and if I had the decision to make I would make him honor his LOI and have him sit for a year if he decided to jump ship. I would not have said that before all of this crap came out that I am reading.

Yes, I was wondering also why they don&#39;t trust Pearl. What is up with all of the in state prospects not wanting to come to tennessee. First in football with Patric turner, and now tyler smith having doubts. I thought we would have recruited alot better in state.


But giving props to Pearl, I expected him to convince Smith to stay, and by the looks of it he is going to do just that. I guess when they said pearl could recruit, they wernt kidding.

you also have to remember that everything you&#39;ve been reading is not true at all. People make up stuff. Say someone said somethin when they didnt. I dont believe Tyler is cocky at all. I&#39;ve only seen him play once and that was a AAU tourny i was in..

I got to see why they call him the "birdman" in Giles County.

You are right in that most of what we are reading probably has very little truth behind it and I hope you are right. We need Smith and I hope it works out. But Pitino is a very shady character and that in itself scares me. For example, Pitino recruited a kid named Donta Smith out of Southeastern Illinois Community College. Smith ended up throwing his name in for the draft and getting drafted in the second round getting about &#036;1 million guaranteed. Pitino called the coach at the community college and ripped into him saying he is ruining this kids life. What? The kid was told by all of the NBA draftniks that he would be drafted and he was. You can&#39;t tell me Pitino was looking out for the best interest of Donta Smith. When you say the word "Trust" Tyler Smith needs to take a closer look at Mr. Pitino. He would sell his soul to the devil before he gave a kid good advice.

Pitino sell his soul to the devil? I thought he already did that. Also what is up with Pitino coming after all our players. First lofton and now smith.
