I just saw this on Rucker's twitter...

-Tyler Smith has signed a 2-month agreement to play for Bornova of the Turkish Basketball League, per agent Jared Karnes.

Now this on GVX...

Former Tennessee basketball player Tyler Smith has signed a two-month contract to play in the same Turkish Basketball League where former UT star Chris Lofton launched his professional career.
Smith has signed with Bornova, a team in the top division in Turkey. He will join the team immediately.
Jared Karnes, an agent with the Knoxville-based Allegiant Athletic Agency (a3) confirmed that Smith will replace the injured Kedrick Brown. Brown was the 11th overall pick by the Boston Celtics in the 2001 NBA Draft.
“Tyler is eager to begin his professional basketball career in such a well-respected league," Karnes said. "Bornova is very aware of Tyler's versatility and ability to have an immediate impact on a game."

Turkey. Isn't that where they make those flying carpets? Whoa, those are cool. Wait, maybe that's Persia. No, that's where they make those cats. Is Persia near Iran? Wonder if those cats ever fly on those carpets?

Most players not quite good enough to play NBA ball get a decent first hand education in life traveling abroad. Maybe even moreso than they get making millions in the NBlingA. I wish Tyler all the best. Maybe he can answer my questions when he visits back home.
