Reports indicate more and more that Smith wants out of his committment to TN. What should Pearl do? let him off? Don't release him and make him sit out a year? On Bassillio today I heard a caller suggest that Pearl give him two options..Stay at TN or go to Coastal Carolina with Buzz. If you signed because of the school lets go to work..if you signed for the coach..Go Coastal! otherwise sit for a year. What daya think?

The last thing we need is some dude who doesn't want to be playing ball for Tennessee. There is no sense in holding someone against their will. Like you said TBALL, if he wants to play for Buzz, let him go do it. I don't want a guy who will have the ball for the game winning shot and him not care if he makes it or not....

If he wants to play for us....fine then. If not, get rid of him.

Rumor now has it that he is going to ask for a release in order to go to Louisville. We really need Smith on our team next year imo.

Do you want him on the team if he doesn't want to be here and doesn't care about Tennessee?

I do too but it's not looking good. I guess that Pearl will just have cope with what he has. I don't get Smith...

What he's got is not much aside from guard play with Lofton and Watson.

If he don't wanna come to tennessee, then he can go wherever he wants. there's no sense in having a guy on your team if he doesn't have heart for the team he plays for.

It will be interesting to see what Pearl can do with the returning players. Scooter and Crump are gone, but they were both so hit and miss. We'll see.

I didn't have the opportunity to watch but one of a Tennessee men's game this year, so forgive me if I hardly follow the program... Did he have the goods to make the big league?

Well, the program is still definitley not out of the dark yet. We all have a lot of confidence in Pearl to do well, but we don't know whether or not that will happen. He's got the talent to take himself to a program where he will get noticed.

I think that it's a little on the selfish side (only a little, though) but it's how he's choosing to do things. If he wants to leave, let him go.

I'm too lazy to do the research but I would imagine that he would fit in with us better than he would Louisville. They are probabaly so deep up there it may be three years before he plays. The year he has to sit out and the two he sits on the bench at Louisville. He's good but he's not a McDonald's All American. Wait till next year! We will have a line of those who say, "I'm lov'in it" coming to TENNESSEE.

My two cents.......I would love for TS to come to TN but it does not look good at this point and the fact that CBP may not get a visit with him because of the tournament this weekend I do not like our chances. That being said I will keep my fingers :cross: and hope he indeed honors his LOI. I don't think there is any doubt we can use him next year.

For what it's worth, Pearl and Smith are going to meet again after Smith is done with the tournament...
