Tyrod Taylor

I think we would've had a chance with Taylor were it not for 5-6. I agree he is likely headed to VaTech but he is not a diehard Hokie.

Va Tech will try to sell him on playing quarterback while during the camp this week. UT on the other hand is looking for another athlete. He is not your average pocket passer so that is why Tech is the favorite. Of course, we got Brent Schaffaer in the end and I didn't think we had a chance in hell.

he is leaning to Va tech but I think anytime we get a visit we have a chance. We will see?

Tenn is gettin out recruited by VA Teck. thats funny. when are people on this board gonna wake up and smell the coffee. Tennessee is in a downward spiral. they better win at least 8 ball games as well as win a decent bowl or recruiting will really go in the tank.

The only east tenn recruit that va tech has had recently was shawn witten and vince redd. It is hard for tenn to recruit the chesapeake bay area over va tech and other acc schools. Beamer has even stated that they don't generally try to go after east tenn kids bc they don't think it is worth it trying to go head to head with ut. Tenn has been able to pull kids from the chesapeake bay area in Va since a far back as I can remember.

Yep, that area of Va is rich with talent and Va Tech has strong influences there. Usually, Tech mostly sticks to Virginia players. Almost they're entire roster of starters were from Va last year.

 Why are we getting out recruited??? Cause one guy might go there? Tennessee was never really in the picture for him.

Got to disagree with you strongly on that point. Also, Taylor has not committed to anyone so far as I know do I wouldn't count anything out just yet. Looking at VaTech's commitment list I'd say we are probably out recruiting them right now, which is not anything all that unusual. Looking back, VaTech has only had one Top25 recruiting class in the past five years. VaTech is regularly out recruited by Virginia. What is amazing is what Beamer gets out of his players. If Fulmer was half as good as Beamer at getting guys to overachive, Fulmer would have 3-4 BCS championships instead of one.

I kind of agree, but not really. As someone who has seen a lot of Hokie ball games, I can tell you with certainty that they play well until the end of year when they're schedule gets tough. Then they seem to choke most of the time, not all the time, but most of the time.

I'm not saying Beamer isn't a good coach. I just don't think he's as good at getting players to overachieve as you think he is. I certainly don't see how Fulmer would have 3-4 BCS championships coaching in the SEC. Seriously, how many Championships does Beamer have from coaching in the Big East and ACC?

However, I would love for Beamer to come to Tennessee and coach special teams. The Hokies are amazing when it comes to that aspect and it helps them win games the normally shouldn't.

Mistake earlier on Vince Redd, he went to virginia instead of va tech. Anyway, the point I was making was that most of the va kids go to va or va tech. I don't think fulmer got outrecruited on this one and by no means am i happy with last years recruiting but that is what happens when you go 5-6.

Man, its weird that only Fulmer would recruit the kids. I guess Taylor, Adkins, Chavis, and the others have long vacations.

Quit trying so hard to be hat, hillbilly, or okla. They're good at discussing their points.

Here is a good reason that we aren't in the running for Taylor: WE ARE NOT RECRUITING HIM. We have already taken 1 QB in a year that we have limited schollys and taking a QB is not necessary. The kid is from an area that VT is strong at recruiting.

You hit the nail on the head.

I have not heard that we rescinded his offer. If a 5* QB who is academicaly qualified wants to come play for your team, you make room.

I'm not saying we wouldn't take him. I'm saying we aren't actively recruiting him and most prospects will take a hint after a while when you quit contacting the player.
