Her wife could be her sister, just saying they favor each other. Also, I would like to point out there were others before her, just not as publicly open.

It shouldn't be, but since the military has a history of making it an important issue, this is a noteworthy indication that times are changing.

I believe the best person for the job/promotion should get said position. Broadcasting her sexual preference to the world doesn't do anything except solidify the position that we're different. If we want equality then we'll have to broadcast everyone's sexual orientation for every promotion.

Yeah, cause the visibility of high profile representatives of discriminated classes doesn't help with acceptance, right? Jackie Robinson, anyone?
