UAB advanced with a revenge match over UTEP. UTEP hammered UAB one month ago (worst UAB loss).

UAB has now avenged both its losses in CUSA and meets Memphis tomorrow morning.

UAB will be a dangerous team in the tourney. Great guard play, deep bench, 40 minutes of hell. Similar to UT but they appear much fresher right now.

It will be tough to beat UM tomorrow (14 hours of rest!).

UAB has won 20 of its last 22 (losses to Memphis and UTEP) and has won 8 in a row including victories over Memphis and UTEP.

No one wants this team in a early round.

Good for them.

They are a tough team. Scary how they got good late.

They've been pretty consistent all season. Put a complete smackdown on Okla St., beat Nebraska, lost at Minnesota at the buzzer, played Memphis tough in the first game. The only bad losses were 1) Western Kentucky and 2) UTEP in regular season.

Point guard Squeaky Johnson is a top 5 point guard and Cousey Award finalist.

By "scary how they got good late" should be read "didn't notice them until as of now". :biggrin2:

Nice job, congrats to UAB. We all know Anderson gets a lot out of his team.

Sad to say that Anderson is likely to leave. He says he won't but UAB has pathetic facilities (other than Bartow Arena). He'll get some big offers.

This is his first heading coaching job (4 years now). 20+ wins every season, 3 maybe 4 (this year) years as team with highest number of steals, 1st year NIT, 3 NCAA appearances, 2 first round wins, 1 second round win (beating #1 seed Kentucky) - all wins as higher seed. Could be second consecutive Sweet 16 this year.

Finally, he puts butts in the seats.
