A buddy uses Lyft in Nashville. He likes it a lot.

Uber's Android app caught reporting data back without permission

Security researcher GironSec has pulled Uber's Android app apart and discovered that it's sending a huge amount of personal data back to base – including your call logs, what apps you've got installed, whether your phone is vulnerable to certain malware, whether your phone is rooted, and your SMS and MMS logs, which it explicitly doesn't have permission to do. It's the latest in a series of big-time missteps for a company whose core business model is, frankly, illegal in most of its markets as well.

works great, where it's legal

they passed ordinances against it here in Northwest Arkansas, but I've had great luck with it in California and New Jersey

It's really nice not having to pay when your done, and you get an emailed reciept

Got a buddy that drives for them on occasion. Pretty slick setup they have for drivers. If anyone needs extra money now and again, it's a cool system. Drive when you want and how often you want. Don't drive if you don't want to.

Their weekly reports and guidance is good. Payment is on time. He enjoys it. (ps. He drives a Fit)

Uber is awesome. Took one in Jacksonville with 5 people. Was $20 cheaper than a cab.

Plus we got to ride in a nice SUV.

Used it a couple times in Denver. It was faster and cheaper then a cab. Some of the people are weird but I conceal carry most of the time so I don't even care.

More great options with Uber:
Don't need cash, can pay with PayPal/Credit Card
Can split payment between the people with you
Can preview fare before hand.

Had some problems setting up Uber and they kept asking for my credit card info again.

I've used Lyft around 20 times and it's always cheaper and more reliable than a taxi.

In San Diego I even left my license in the car and the dude took it back to my hotel without a problem. I will never use a taxi unless I have to again.

Was awesome! Very fast and love the app, etc. Will definitely use again. Plus I had a $30 off first ride coupon so my ride was free.

If anyone is thinking of using it, here's my code to get your first ride free. I think it also hooks me up with free rides, but no money or anything. Just trying to help other folks out. Someone got me into using Uber with a free ride.
