Just curious. Do all UCONN grads have announcing jobs lined up for them at ESPN after they graduate? Saw that Tuck is now on staff. Is Stewie next? Geez.....

You mean they picked the pretty, All-American player coming off 4 National Championships to be their analyst? And I shudder to think that they might conceivably be considering asking the 4-time NCAA champion and tournament MVP, WNBA #1 draft pick, Rookie of the Year, and Olympian to be an analyst as well.

What is the world coming to?!?

Do you think u conn uses this as a recruiting chip with the ladies. Granted they are all good players, but why did all of them pick u conn? Don't say because its the best coach ever or the best environment, campus, field house, ect. One or two of these gals going somewhere else ever year or two and things could have look a lot different over the past few years.

...but why did all of them pick u conn?

1. They want to win multiple national championships.

2. They want to play on the US Olympic Team.

3. They want lucrative broadcasting jobs after graduation.

Is there another school in the country where these are options?

Seems like you have turned into a UCONN fan and TN hater. What happened? All you seem to do is criticize Holly these days.

I've never been a fan of Holly. I don't think she's the right coach for the Lady Vols, and I doubt they will become anything more than a mid-tier Top 20 team with her at the helm. Even after last year's disaster, I'm still along for the ride. I don't expect things to change this year, but if Holly gets a good recruiting run for the 2017 and 2018 classes, I'll be keen to see if she can turn things around.

Although I respect UConn, I am most happy to see them lose, and this season will be good because I anticipate that they will lose more than they did the last 3 years combined. But seriously...look at the OP. I assume Morgan is being asked to be an analyst for the college season, and given her outstanding credentials as a collegiate player and the fact that she's not a bad looking girl, why would anyone find this even slightly suspect? It's just another excuse to fabricate some fictional injustice in order to complain about UConn...and that makes our fanbase look petty.

It's not like every year, there are UConn alum joining the studio. I may not have everyone, but the only UConn alum I can think of over the past 20 years who work as ESPN analysts are Rebecca Lobo and Swin Cash...and apparently now Morgan Tuck. Honestly, I don't see anything is unusual about this.

I think that players pick UConn for the same reason that they used to pick Tennessee: the opportunity to play for a legendary coach and a perennial championship contender. They have certainly been lucky. Things would have looked much bleaker for them if they didn't hit the quartet of gold with Taurasi, Charles, Moore and Stewart. If Tennessee had gotten Moore, I think it would have been Tennessee with 4 straight championships, but what's done is done...

Tuck is pretty, poised, and articulate. The same words can be used to describe Skylar Diggins. It doesn't hurt that they were both successful All-Americans in college. Success has its rewards.

Let's face it, there isn't a lot of demand for fat, ugly, dumpy, ignorant people in front of the camera on television...unless they are blood relations of Honey Boo Boo.

I don't think asking this question is petty, especially when there has been a previous issue in recruiting concerning UConn/ESPN. Didn't Pat Summitt question it herself?

I don't know if Tuck is doing collegiate work for them, but is a WNBA rookie really qualified to comment on the playoff games? At least Diggins has some experience in the league and is an All Star.

Chiney Ogwumike was a studio host after her rookie season, and she didn't have much experience in the league nor playoff credentials. Is that a problem as well, or only Morgan because of her UConn connection?

Besides being outstanding basketball players, here's something else that Chiney, Morgan and Skylar have in common: they are pretty, well-spoken, and rising stars in the WNBA. As far as I can tell, she had a short studio segment with Skylar during halftime in one of the playoff games. Again, I don't see what the big deal is.

Brittany Jackson is a play by play announcer for some ESPN college games, and it's not like she was a standout college player. Does anyone question her qualifications...other than the fact that she is also pretty and well-spoken?

I apologize for starting the thread. If the mods want to do away with it, that is fine. I also extend an apology to you as well, Amb.

The ESPN 'campus' is an hour and a half from the Uconn campus and they have no presence on the campus. There are other schools that have better communications majors, and the presence of ESPN in the state doesn't really bring anything special to the educational options.

The advantage that Uconn alum have is that they are statewide celebrities from the moment they step on campus because CT does not have a professional sports franchise, football has never been as big a deal in New England as it is most other places in the country, and there are about 6 local newspapers that assign sports writers to the women's team throughout the season as well as all the local TV stations. On top off that, both NY and Boston are close enough that there are occasional reports carried in their various media. So the players become very media savvy and comfortable dealing with reporters and the whole process. Having a nationally available sports network as the broadcast partner doesn't hurt either. Add in the 11 championships in 21 years and the record winning streaks and the exposure the players get is significant.

In the list of the Uconn alum who have done broadcasting, you can add in Sue Bird by the way. But a lot of this is also based on availability - Skylar hasn't played in Europe so once the WNBA season is over she is available, Morgan is currently recovering from injury and not headed overseas, Sue has done college work when she has been rehabbing or last year when she took a year off, and Kara got her boost when she was available because she wasn't headed overseas. The broadcast companies want people they can work with and develop, and most women who are still playing professionally are just not available for prolonged stretches of time with their 12 month schedules. Edit - Chiney also became more available because of injury.

By the way - I think Kara is the best women's analysts out there, and one of the best analysts regardless of gender. I love listening to her, and when she and Lobo are working together, she raises the quality that Lobo brings as well.

Kara is my favorite as well. She is knowledgeable, articulate, and doesn't pull punches or worry about being politically correct. She tells it like it is.

In my opinion, Morgan was not that good yesterday. It was night and day difference between her and Diggins. I just felt a lack of energy and interest in the game when Morgan answered questions. In contrast to Skylar answering questions like she was really interested in the second half of the game or very complimenting of the Parker and Ogwumike.
