UConn Huskies aggressively seeking ACC move, source says - ESPN

UConn president Susan Herbst is aggressively pursuing membership in the ACC to become the 15th or 16th member institution in the conference, according to a source with direct knowledge of UConn's situation.

Wow, the ACC will be absolutely stacked during basketball season if this goes through. They could be more dominant in basketball than the SEC is in football.

It's going to be a drain on revenue for the football schools IMO. Basketball has the NCAA tourney as a ratings leader. No conference can or will have a monopoly on the tourney. This entire realignment is about football and television revenue derived from football. I believe that the ACC has made a gross error in judgment that will hamstring it's member institutions for years to come.

Same. They are going to dominate in basketball, but football still looks mediocre. Espn will have a new conference to fawn over though, even if it will play little sister to the new look sec and pac16 every year.

I don't think so. By snagging Cuse, Pit and possibly UConn, the ACC has solidified it's TV footprint from South Florida all the way up the Eastern Seaboard. The only way the ACC could've done better was to get Texas or some schools out in Cali.

Pretty solid move by the ACC if you ask me. Expansion is never about becoming or solidifying yourself as the best football conference (A&M doesn't help the SEC stay the best football conference, they are mediocre), it's about TV money.

Problem is that once you get north of virginia, cfb is totally second class to the pros.

Hardwood - you may be right but it is hard for me to believe that the numbers justify adding WVU. They just do not bring in enough new TV market to justify splitting the pie into another slice.

My opinion would be for the SEC stay at 13 and unbalanced divisions until they can steal stronger member(s) from another conference.

The SEC could always add Kansas and that will give us a boost in the basketball ranks

KU and KSU will likely end up in what's left of the Big East, as will probably the leftover Big 12 teams not named Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St.
