Charlie Strong at Tampa, Kiffin at FAU, both win some recruiting chops.

Kiffin unlikely to hurt Miami that much. Top Miami h.s. players that want to stay close to home will still go to UM before they go to FAU. Still, he'll pick up some players under the radar and might develop them well.

Strong, i really do not know exactly where he is at with Miami recruiting, but have to assume he still has some connections there.

Just got a little tougher for both FSU and UF, moving forward. Miami maybe a little, too.

Furthermore, it becomes harder for the out of state schools. All the top SEC, ACC, and even Big Ten schools try to establish a presence in Florida.

To me its really the 3 star type recruits at issue here. You know who is really going to take a hit are schools like UCF.

I go back to what I said about TV time before. FSU, Miami and UF are going to get airtime and exposure. UCF and USF gets some exposure, but not much. FIU and FAU not so much. Other than the "wow! New coach with a brand name!" factor that will wear off quickly with Butch Davis and Kiffin, I don't see networks dropping a potential P5 game in lieu of broadcasting a C-USA game unless it happens to be a real slow Saturday or an OOC match with a P5 school.

Big question is whether Kiffin has any Florida connections. And I'm not sure he does.

I think it was really Orgeron who did, but still, when the five stars can't make it to an LSU,or need to stay close to home, where is Orgeron going to tell to go?

I'm not saying its going to be easy, but I sure do think he'll pick up some kids that program ordinarily would not. And if he has some early success, and beats a P5 school or two in the process?

Could build on itself.

The have a 3-9 record this year at FAU. OOC games for FAU in 2017 are:

Navy
@Wisconsin
Bethune-Cookman (WTF is this?)
@ Buffalo

Not seeing them beat UW...Navy not sure. They stand a good chance of beating Buffalo...yay! <yawn>

I think UF, UM and FSU are in good shape recruiting wise. Same goes for USF and UCF to an extent. FAU and FIU have an uphill battle even with 3 stars since a whole hoop of P5 programs stalk recruits from 3 stars and up in Florida. Who wants to go to FAU when you could be playing for a P5 team?

I doubt Florida and FSU are taking a hit because Kiffin. If I'm an 18 year old star football prospect, I'd rather be a backup at Florida than a starter at FAU.

South Florida, on the other hand, has the potential to become Florida's 4th power. If Taggart had stayed there for another 5 or 6 years, I think he could've gotten them there. I wouldn't have been shocked to see Taggart reach a BCS bowl eventually. Strong may get them to the promised land, too, but I don't know that it changes the situation that much versus Taggart.

I may see Bigfoot today, get probed by an alien, or find a pot o' gold at the end of a rainbow but they aren't likely to happen. Charlie Strong couldn't recruit at Texas which ultimately led to his downfall so unless he magically becomes more convincing at a less prestigious school it ain't happening either. He may steal a recruit here or there but not enough to matter.

I'd add UCF into that mix as well. They had a good run a couple of years ago and seem to be on the rise again with Scott Frost at the helm. I don't think either will ever be able to unseat the big three in Florida, but they can be in play for recruits so long as they continue to win.

No player in his right mind is going to take a known backup role if they can start. The precedent is clearly there that the NFL will draft from small schools if you prove yourself. Winning in C-USA would be insanely easy. The conference is already down and with Brohm leaving WKU, it's only going to get easier to win in that conference.

How many starting qbs areally even from a major school in a P5? Note, Purdue isn't a major P5 school.

Im not sure how old you are in regards to the statement they would rather ride the pine at a big school then play at FAU but you are really off base. There aren't many Rudy Ruettigers anymore. Kids want to play, especially south florida kids that live in the low income level areas. hmmm start and be a star in Boca 15 mins from all my friends and family live, or go to UF not on a full scholarship and hope you make the travel roster just to dress at game.

D'Andre Johnson. By all accounts, the kid has resurrected himself and cleaned up from his domestic assault case that gother him booted from FSU, but it was still domestic assault. Had a great juco season, apologized on Good Morning America (or one of those) and regularly holds seminars and speaks at anti domestic assault rallies and discussions. Might not be the best image for LK's first signing though.

And on day one the idea of kiffin not being able to recruit there is already debunked. #2 dual threat juco qb that was a four star qb coming out of high school. Had an offer list a mile long.
