ATHENS — Georgia football coach Mark Richt was given a two-year-contract extension and had his salary raised $800,000 a year by the UGA Athletic Association in a specially-called meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Just the cost of doing business. They pretty much had to do it or face major negative recruiting.

I guess UGAG is happy with 9 wins every season. GT will warm up Richt's seat by beating UGA for the 2nd straight season this November in Bobby Dodd Stadium.

It's more likely Tech wins 7-8 games and lose to UGA by 20. They never handle success well.

Well, at least that's 2 more years they'll blow a game they shouldn't.

Georgia really isn't that amazing of a program. They should be very pleased with 9 wins a year because that will always be their ceiling.

Georgia's ceiling is something that we as Vol fans should all be worried about. If they ever get an "elite" coach the SEC will be in trouble.

Tennessee was poised to take over the East after Spurrier left for the NFL, then Mark Richt came in and elevated UGA's program.

He's had them on the doorstep of playing for a national title several times, only to be beaten by better teams. 2008 and 2012 immediately come to mind....with a WTF loss thrown in against UF in 2002 that kept UGA from playing for it all.

The man is a damn good football coach, and UGA could do a helluva lot worse.
