wow, that's very poor recruiting... why bring a guy in to a game knowing is brother plays for the other team? At least that's one thing UT does well.

My guess is that they knew they would like to see their son play and thought they were being thoughtful. It just backfired on them when they threw a fit about their colors.

But CMR is so smart and UGA is so much better than UT ever dreamed of being! How could this be!? Surely this reporter made this story up!

Nope, it was in the Athens Banner Herald the other day. I suggested in my post in the sports forum that UT fans send Big Orange shirts to all UGA recruits families and suggest they wear them to their official visits.:clapping:

It was sarcasm on my part. So many on this board act like Richt is the next coming of Jesus Christ.

My entire side of my dad's family lives in Athens. Everytime I go down there I deck out in all orange. They can be some means SOB's about that, Lemme tell you.

Well, I'm not surprised, given the classiness of UGA fans. That's why it sucks the Phil lets Richt waltz into Neyland Stadium and embarrass him on a regular basis.

He's just fresh blood. Started off like he would be invincible. But, he's settling in to the reality of SEC football. Truthfully, he probably gets more off the field praise for the type person he is verses his coaching talents.

To be fair, Richt has also been nice to Phil on his last couple of trips.

Yeah, I know when ever I wear Orange or my UT gear here, as well as my UT bumper stickers, my UT alum on my back window, and especially my NC plate on the front of my car.

I guess the gist f the whole thing is that as someone said, it was probably handled badly by both sides. The UGA people should have just ignored the family and let them catch grief from the fans. On the other hand, it is not clear what the Bowman's son' interest in UGA was, whether he has or had any intention to consider UGA or not, or just whether the family looked as this as their big chance to see their other son play without having to travel to Oklahoma, and this was their only chance to see him close to home.

I'm not sure how UT would have dealt with a situation like this if they were playing say UF or Bama and some recruits family showed up in Red or Orange and Blue.

Those are huge rivalries, so it isn't the fairest of comparisons. I think the equivalent comparison would be if DeSean Jackson had a little bro that came to visit Neyland last year and his parent's sported Cal gear. I would like to think that the recruit would be given the benefit of the doubt and UT would be understanding that the parents are supporting their other son who happens to be the best player on the other team.

As for little Bowman using UGA to see Adarius play, I don't think that was the case. There was an article in the Times Free Press today that said he understood his parents not liking how UGA treated them, but he still ranks them high on his list because he had a great time and loved the atmosphere, and his mom would have to respect his decision to go where he feels the most comfortable...
