A tidbit from AJC.com today. Wonder if this is part of the Richt poker game, or are the UGA guys truly doubting? :

Defense knows it has flaws

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Every Tuesday Georgia brings in players to meet with the press. This week they needed to send a psychiatrist to meet with the players. This is the most down-in-the-mouth group I have ever seen.

Every defensive player that came in — Kelin Johnson, Tra Battle, Danny Verdun Wheeler —talked about how much they were struggling right now. And how Saturday would be a struggle against Tennessee. I don’t think these guys are playing possum, either. They are truly scratching their heads and feeling sorry for themselves. Even Mark Richt, who has huge offensive problems to address, said the defense isn’t playing as well as the stats may indicate.

Apparently, that message was delivered to the players. And apparently, the players have not resolved to do better. Right now they seem as if they are sulking. Maybe a full-pads practice will snap them out of the funk. But if they don’t stop feeling sorry for themselves soon, they are going to get run over by Tennessee. And the odd thing is they know it. They talked about it — in monotone.

I highly doubt that UGA(especially the defense) comes into the game without passion.

Personally, one thing I am worried about, is our confidence. I want us to be confident, but not cocky. How will our players react, if they are overconfident, if UGA comes out and smacks them in the mouth with a huge 3 and out and/or a long, time-consuming drive by just forcing the ball down our throat? Will we roll over or will we attack back?

I agree. That's why I am even reluctant to see our FANS get overly confident. I think it's going to be a momentum game and we need to score first . . . and often . . . to keep the big MO on our side.

I don't have a problem with the fans getting overly confident, just because they don't play the game. They might eat crow, but I really don't see it affecting the game.

Agree this is all media play. UGA D will be ready. Hopefully not ready enough. They have yet to face someone with our speed at receiver. Think this will be the difference.

Yeah, UGA may as well not even show up, because they just haven't ever seen a team as tough as UT.

Come on, UGA will be ready. They know what it's like to play good offenses. Saturday will be no different. I hope we dominate them, but history tells me we won't.

I hope the team plays like they don't expect this to be a cakewalk (like so many of the posters) and instead still play with a chip on their shoulders.

I wouldn't be surprised if we were to win by 2 scores, and maybe 3 if we hit a big play late, but I expect it to be close late in the game.
