I figured their recruiting would slow down with Richt's seat getting warmer but I guess not. They are in on Rome, Vaughters, Wright, Crowell, Wilder, and a half dozen others. Dooley is going to have to start competing with them in GA if we're going to turn the ship around, imo. It'll take him a year or two but I think he'll get there.

He's sitting on a gold mine of talent. Of course he's going to get the players. I do fear though that they might actually have a defense since he was finally forced to get rid of Wil-Mart as DC. If not, Richt will continue to squander away all that talent Fulmer-style.

Yeah, I think it won't be a shoot-out anything this year when we play them, IMO.

hounestly, i dont think we will have a high ranked class this year bc we are going to try and fill this recruiting class with a bunch of linemen and dline. you always build a team from the inside out. we have a bunch of playmakers- justin hunter will be the biggest surprize.

i mean i would take 8 oline and 8 dline then 3LB and 4 cb then the 5 remaining spots get the best players possible wr playmakers whatever. that would go a LONG way in rebuilding this team.

Grantham can't possibly be worse than Martinez and the UGA fans I've spoken to seem to think he's better than Van Gorder. We'll see about that but if so they might be MNC contenders before long. Fulmer and Richt is a solid comparison but Mack Brown from Texas might be another. He was owned by OU for years and he finally turned the ship around after a solid seven years or so and came into his own as a coach. We'll see if Richt can too. If not, he'll be out within two years or so, imo.

Richt managed to lose a few recruits late last year and finished outside the top 10 recruiting classes....it'll be interesting to watch. I think we'll pull our fair share of GA talent...

i mean i have to think that having chuck smith on staff that could sell alot to a kid who wants to play in the NFL. i dont understand why we have not seen more about dline being interested.

They should be top 5 every year with all the talent they have.

People said the same thing as the OP last year when they got DaRick, Benedict, and Ogletree out of the gates. Little did everyone know that DaRick would be a Vol, Benedict may have suffered a career ending injury during the season, and they had to offer Ogletree's brother just to keep him.

Eh, that's basically what we did to get DaRick. I highly doubt DaRick would be a Vol right now if we didn't offer his buddy Nash Nance. Point taken, though. Shows what a bad season and losing coaches can do to a class, though. They literally got rid of the entire staff on defense minus Garner.

Richt will have to fight off Saban and Kirby Smart for the top players in Georgia. Alabama is making serious in-roads in the state of Georgia. The two Chick-fil-A Kickoff games have done wonders for Alabama's recruiting efforts there.

They are always working on a top 5 class. Its once the season begins and St Richt starts coaching is where the wheels fly off, lmfao!!!

Competing? DaRick Rogers after being onstaff for two weeks should convince that he can compete with them in recruiting!

Hunter is not a surprize, he is an incredible talent!

This. Alabama has 12 commitments for 2011, 10 of them are on the ESPN 150. Saban is going into GA to get 4-5 players each year.

ESPN ranks their players based on where that player has committed to play at. Half of Florida's class last year were ESPN 150 players. Just as LSU did the year before that. Coincidence? Let's see who the national champs offer and give those players really high ratings. ESPN rankings are a joke. Prime example, Michael Palardy was the #15 kicker in the country last year by them. Anyone with eyesight and half a brain could tell Palardy was easily top 3 or better. If Palardy commits to Florida, I bet he is the best by them instead of 15.

Just imagine if the state of Tennessee produced as much talent as the state of Georgia, Texas, Florida etc...

Well it doesn't, not by a longshot. So that is why TN must have mad recruiters as coaches to stay competitive. TN must have some of the very best recruiters in the country to remain relevant as a national power. Let's hope CDD and staff can out shine the competition. CDD needs a great top 15 class heavy on lineman, linebackers, to start to build this program back.

This is old news they had a top 3 to 5 class last year all year untill signing day think about that it is to early in any program to talk where a class is start talking in Jan and Feb. That is when it matters.

I think if you see Georgia struggle at all this season, the wheels will start falling off this recruiting class.

If Georgia loses to USC in week 2 the rumblings will start getting louder out of Athens...if he somehow loses to Dooley in Samford Stadium then it will be all over for Richt. Then you will see this class fall apart.

Richt has to win this year to save his program and job.
