UGA RB recruit violated multiple rules on moped

Athens — Georgia freshman running back Caleb King was arrested for driving with a suspended license and going the wrong way down a one-way street late Monday night in Athens.

The Bulldogs' prized recruit was booked at 11:39 p.m. into Clarke County Jail and released 37 minutes later on $2,000 bond. King, 19, went the wrong way down a university street on his moped and was arrested by university police.

Georgia coach Mark Richt typically does not comment on traffic citations. Any disciplinary action is usually handled internally and does not result in any loss of playing time.

If we were Nike, we would have more to complain about...i.e. 'stylish' unis!! (See Oregon St.) BLAH!

May I ask what does result in a loss of playing time?

Wrong way on a moped? What kind of danger can that possibly be?

Really. A moped can't be good for one's "street cred". I mean if he were going 150 the wrong way on the back tire of a stolen Suzuki GSXR-1000R, that would be okay.

Its not the moped, its him on it going in the wrong direction that causes someone to swerve and, wallah, you've got two dead. Look, I agree its a minor thing and all, but I'm tired of people making excuses in the big picture for traffic offenders whose actions can startle others into mistakes.

The biggest example I can think of -- and it is becoming a real problem down here -- are these young men on motorcycles going 110 and weaving in traffic. A lot people look at them and figure they'll just kill themselves. But having had a number of them bearing down on me in the passing lane or watching them dart between cars going 75 causes me to conclude that they are a frickin menace to everyone and it often won't be just they who pay the price.

Same with a guy driving the wrong way on a one way street. I don't care if its a Hummer or a moped. Same reaction can occur to someone not expecting oncoming traffic.

The most I've ever laughed from something a bammer said.

Disclaimer: Does not include delusions of grandeur.

Suspended license....send him to LA and he'll get the Paris Hilton treatment. Oh wait. He'll get that in Athens.

Isn't the whole idea behind some of the mopeds the fact that they are under 50cc and legally you don't need a license? They have those dumb things all over Tallahassee.

Exactly, I know a couple of incidents where the dim-witted aholes have sued the people they ran over by driving like an idiot.

I assumed a football player riding a moped was grounds for dismissal and follow-on hormone therapy.
