Good news: Amarius Mims’ injury isn’t a major one. Not going to require surgery and will be back after a few games.

Bad News: Everything I’ve heard on Nolan Smith today suggests he’s going to be out for a little while. Right now I do not expect him to play vs UT but I’m gonna keep working on it.

Also quotes from Smart and this article
“We’ll find out,” Smart said. “I know that Chaz (Chambliss) came in and did a really good job. Beefy (Robert Beal) did a good job and filled in for him. Marvin (Jones Jr.) had the flu so we couldn’t get Marvin in there. We had several guys who were sick coming into the game.”

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Georgia came away with a big 42-20 win over the Florida GAtors. But the win did come at a cost, as several Bulldogs left the game with injury.

Most pressing was defensive leader and outside linebacker Nolan Smith. He left early in the first quarter with what Smart said was a separated shoulder. The Georgia coach was unsure of how serious the injury was when speaking during postgame.

Georgia was also dinged up on the offensive line throughout the game. Xavier Truss was dealing with a toe injury, while late in the game Amarius Mims exited in the fourth quarter with a knee injury that Smart termed as an MCL sprain, though not as serve as the one Jalen Carter dealt with.

“We were getting dinged up,” Smart said. “Warren (McClendon)’s shoulder was messing with him. Truss had a toe. He still played, he played on field goal, PAT. I don’t know how severe that is. Mims’ knee, but I think he’s going to be fine. It’s a slight MCL, not like Jalen’s. Again, you don’t know the answer to these things until tomorrow or further.”

Georgia also saw linebacker Rian Davis leave the game in the fourth quarter while Darris Smith exited in the third quarter after being injured on the opening kickoff.

Wide receiver AD Mitchelll did not dress out on Saturday, while Kendall Milton did dress and travel but did not register a carry in the 42-20 win.

The biggest injury relief Georgia got was the return of Carter. The defensive tackle was limited to largely third-down situational work but still found a way to make a big impact in the win.

“He felt like he was. He told us he felt good in warmups,” Smart said. “We tried not to put him in a pounding situation but they pound all the time. It was third down and we knew there was a threat they would run it. I got to watch the tape because I don’t know if he made any plays but his snap volume was huge for Naz and Zion on first and second down.”

I thought I heard CJH say in his presser that the whole team would be a full go next week.
He didn’t say it quite that forcefully.
He said we SHOULD be as healthy as we’ve been all season.
But, as always, he didn’t give specifics on any players definitive playing status. He doesn’t do that.

Kool. Thanks for the clarification because I couldn’t really remember how he worded it.

Per Kirby today sounds like it is likely Smith will not play. I know we always say next man up etc, but this is a huge blow for them. IMO.

Georgia OLB Nolan Smith 'probably out' for Tennessee

ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia will likely be without senior outside linebacker Nolan Smith when it hosts Tennessee on Saturday. Kirby Smart spoke with reporters on Monday where his tone and words were less than optimistic regarding the team leader in sacks and tackles for loss.

“He’s probably out this week,” Smart said on Monday. He said that after saying that Smith’s availability “does not look good” for Tennessee. Smart also noted that Smith has a pectoral injury and not a separated shoulder like he thought it was after the game.

Georgia lost Dan Jackson their dime package safety before the FL game. Not a big loss, they've some depth there.

Come on Kirby is douche bag but he was very complimentary of UT and the job they have done. He has a good team and so do we. It has all the makings of a great game honestly. He isn't making any excuses and we shouldn't either. I can say without a doubt UT, Alabama or Georgia don't really want to play each other twice. I for one hope like hell we don't see Bama again in the SEC championship, nor UGA again in the NC game. All of these teams can beat you any single day. I have confidence we can go to athens and get a W... However it won't be easy for either team this week

Remember when Butch changed his practice because everyone and their dog was staying hurt?

Well i assume if Mims is out a few games, then he'll be out for our game. Seems like they'll be down a few guys. We're getting healthy at the right time as well.
We've been down a few all season. WR #1 has been out since game 3. All American DT has been out for 5 games. #3 WR has been out most of the season. Both starting ILBs were out for Mizzou and the Barn, but played against UF. Starting safety was lost for the season last week.

Of course. This is the #1 and #2 team, its not like there is a vast gap between them. Both are great teams. So is Alabama (even though their fans suck!). Thats what makes it exciting. Its about who wants it more and who can outscheme the other. We both have the tools.
