I know most of us took it as reasonable given OK joining the conference next year.

However, in retrospect, doesn't it seem a little weird that Bama vs TX was allowed to play this year? Wasn't that the exact same scenario?

I think it was a matter of it being the back end of a 2 year home and home OOC deal vs UGA/OK (and the TN/OK game for that matter) being the first game in a home and home deal. In other words, they were completing a contract while the others wouldn't have time to get to the return game.

So oncer again GA schedule gets softened is that what I'm seeing. Should be like the NFL. Stronger teams get the toughest schedule the next year.

if Bama beats Georgia - a big if for sure - Georgia is probably out of the playoff picture. A win over Oklahoma would make a 1 loss Georgia more appealing to the committee. Beating Ga Tech is fun but doesn’t buy ypu much with the voters.

Two completely scenarios. Tx-Al was the final game of a 2 game contract. Ga-OU was the first game.

Bama and Texas got both games of their 2 game series in. OU and UGA would only have been able to get 1 of 2 in. That was the difference. In any event, Sankey has said he told them they had to cancel so you can't reasonably blame either school.

Besides, it's not like UGA has shrunk from playing tough OOC games. They played Oregon last year, Clemson in 21', Notre Dame in 19', they are opening with Clemson again next year. UF often plays 2 P5 out of conference teams as well. The last time we did was 2003. Of course, we play Bama every year but the point is UGA often chooses to play a tough OOC opponent in addition to Tech. There is no reason to believe they wanted to duck OU coming off a 6-7 year.
