Injury. Just heard this. He is a leader on their special teams punt unit as well. Looks like they will rely on a freshman back there. Big advantage for us imo.

He lost his job early on. More important on their special teams.

Yeah started first game. 12 tackles 1 int and 1 forced fumbled. Started four games last year and had 40 tackles. He would probably easily be our best player in the secondary if he played here considering their talent level over there.

2 tackles per game. How will they survive?
He has impacted their games beyond tackling. I don’t follow Georgia but the article I read quoted Smart as saying they’ll replace him by committee which can’t be a good thing for them. It’s never good to lose a starter. I’m sure it’s not devastating but it will help us next week.

Another post said he hasn't started since the first game.

If nothing else it can cause more confusion back there. He seems to be a veteran leader type coach on the field player out there with uber talented younger 5 star guys. I like our chance of catching them out of position leading to some big busted plays.

He may get them in the correct coverage and what not. It's not all about stats. Somethings don't show up in the stat book.

He isn't a starter though, unless you count ST. I'm sure he rotates in a good bit, but it isn't a huge loss for them.

Georgia football: Kirby Smart updates safety Dan Jackson’s injury status
The first line says "The Georgia secondary has taken a significant hit on the injury front.". It goes on to say he's played in all of their games this year. Maybe it's not going to affect the game whatsoever, but their own board suggests it's a loss so I'm holding out hope that it really is lol. In any event at the very least it's a depth hit for them. Apparently they're thin at the position. Anyway Go Vols and I hope we win out!

Well Smart as Hueple would says positive things about him etc. Spin it as they will with assist from media wanting clicks. but ST’s is important but not a big thing, we kickoff a lot but just punted 3 times to SEC teams if I remember correctly. If he was a big time player he would be a starter on D.

I still don’t understand why some think fans can’t “look ahead”. It’s not like we have to be focused on Kentucky since the team will handle that. Talking about Georgia has zero effect on this Saturday.
You're right, fans can look ahead or behind or do whatever fans want to do.

The reference to "looking ahead" is more geared towards the player and team mindset.

Just having fun. Wasn't serious.

I agree with you there he appears to be a great special team player. At safety, they have Malaki Starks (329 snaps) and Christopher Smith (309 snaps). Dan Jackson only has 126 snaps but does have a very high PFF rating. He is definitely their main backup at safety.

I guess the three phases of the game don't count.a kickoff for a td,apunt return for a td,a blocked punt for a td.Just something to fill in the game,I guess.
