The South Alabama game was disappointing but there were positives. Not the least of which was we got another win. I'd take an ugly win over a lower level school than some super close loss to a powerhouse Ala LSU and too many men. Below are some of the positives I took away.

Neal and Lane both broke off big runs.

Croom had his best catches.

Worley had some of his best throws.

Defense again got us an early INT.

The team is showing glimpses of getting better, individual players are too. They have yet to put a complete game together but at least there is some progress.

Yes, we are basically where almost everyone on this board realistically thought we would be right now after 5 games - 3 wins, 2 losses.

If this team can keep it together after a brutal October schedule, we should have a better that even chance of winning 6 games this season and going to a bowl which would be a huge step in the right direction.

It's nice to see people look at the positives instead of constantly dwelling on the negatives.

The Vols have a lot of issues right now especially the QB play and the list goes on and on but there's always a bright side.

The most important thing about winning ugly is..............winning! We were the National Champions of moral victories under Dooley.

Ugly wins are not unusual either. UGA looked sad against North Tejas or where have you but just beat LSU. USC struggled against UCF etc.

I liked how the defense stepped up at the goal-line at the end! I would have bet my pay-check at that point that we were headed to over-time. When it came down to absolutly having to make a play, they stepped up. It was an ugly win but I will take it!

South Carolina has a top coach and higher rated players, and their win was ugly too. It happens. Better times are coming, but probably not the next three games. Coach Jones is a winner, and will build a winning team if the fans will support him. You have to break a horse before you can train him. Our team is not out of that phase yet.

I've seen us regress. In no way are they getting better.

Just a few things are needed to change that game back to a blowout. One is team confidence.

The penalty negating the TD on a fake field goal. Then the holder blocking the field goal attempt.

Evidently Pig stopped on an end zone pass play...maybe Worley should have thrown it away. The Pic before that in all honesty shouldn't have been thrown into 3 defenders. Slapped ball interception, they happen. Maybe line collapsed too much or Worley didn't drop back enough. Worley also has to abandon the bounce pass, especially early in games. It is either confidence or butterflies but he has to find a way to address it.

The good thing about an ugly win is everyone should be ready to get the bad taste out of their mouths and have a big week of preparation. UGA will be riding cloud nine and is somewhat beat up. Hopefully they overlook us and enable us to pull off an upset like WV put on OSU yesterday.

A big moral victory would be staying within 10 points and showing improvement in key areas.

I say we kick their arses instead!

GBO!

Aside from the opening drive by South Alabama and how we clanked at the end of the 1st half that was probablly our best 1/2 of football this year. Little mistakes are piling up at times but interspersed is more and more solid play.

Hopefully we will soon reach the point where "beautiful loss" isn't a phrase. Any beautiful game we play will be a W.
