Written by an Alabama writer who depending on the year the fans hate him. He did leave out most penalized and cheating football state.

Wow...that's pretty pitiful.

He just wrote the truth, can you name another state with those records? Back to Back NC, and Back to Back Heisman is amazing enough not to mention the other state colleges. I can't see any of the other states in the SEC doing this.

Florida, Florida State, and Miami have been dominate for some years now. Granted Miami is going to get hit hard but you can't deny the 90's and early 2000s for all three of them.

I'd go with Texas. Followed by California and Florida.

How can you have the "Ultimate Football State" without the NFL?

Oh, and al.com lol

It's easy to have football success when you pay players. They don't have a NFL team but they do have a couple of teams with a payroll.

Albert Means?[/QUOTE

Judged, tried, and served. Sentence may still be out on Cam and Auburn, but nothing has been proven there, so UA and AU NC titles and Heismans of 2009 and 2010 will be records I don't see the state of tn ever being able to accomplish.

No one here said TN was clearly better....but I agree with most that just the success of one university doesn't make a place "the ultimate football state"

Just like Alabama will never be a better football state than Texas or Florida. Hell, even California. Sure, Alabama and Auburn are two fantastic programs. Alabama, is arguably the best all time. But from a simple numbers standpoint, it's just stupid to argue, with a state population smaller than the cities of LA, SF, Miami, Dallas, and Houston, that Alabama is a better football state than these much larger states. These states have better football at every level. They have significantly better high school talent, significantly better college talent (arguably not as elite but certainly deeper), and Alabama doesn't even have a professional team. The other states all have multiple.

For the population, Alabama has very good high school talent. Prattville High played on ESPN Sat. That team alone has 18 commits already with 12 of those D1, and possibility up to 22 commits from one team. So considering the population and number of championships at all levels of college football that speaks volumes.

Sure, but this isn't about the best football state "per capita." It's about the ultimate football state overall. I never denied what you guys have is special. I just think it's a ridiculously short sighted claim.

If Alabama is such a great football state, why won't UA and Auburn play other teams in the state? UT has played UTC, MTSU, UT-Martin and regularly plays Memphis. As we are seeing tonight, Louisville is playing Murray State and UK is play WKU.

For some reason UA and Auburn won't play Troy, UAB, JSU, Samford, etc. yet they'll play scrubs from D1A and AA. Other SEC and BCS teams play Troy and UAB.

If you are such a great football state quit wussing out and give your other schools a chance.

Don't think it is anything about won't, have played in the past. They just don't play each other now.

I'm just amused by the OP congratulating Auburn for last year in the most roundabout way possible. It's like a more localized version of the "SEC FIVE TIME CHAMPS BABY WOO" idiocy from the last BCSMNCG.
